A great breakdown of the themes in Tron Legacy

on Friday, January, 07, 2011 11:42 AM
I found this great read that someone pointed out at a Trek board a visit daily. It's a very good read of the themes that are within Tron Legacy. It's not a "review" but rather their take on the underpinnings of the movie and mostly for those who doesnt think there is much story within the movie. I for one find this fascinating and will probably make me think a little different when I see it again next week. Let me know what all you programs think.

Spoilers for those who still have not seen it (shame on you if thats the case).

Your right, I read the article you posted and thought it was great. I stricks at the heart of the matter. The underlining root subject of the movie of TRON Legacy. Free will vs. an idea of mass perfection. I thought it was a great read aswell, thanks for posting.

I thought the article made some great points as well. I feel like there were critics that may have made up their mind before seeing the film.

A great article, yet polluted by some of the most asanine, inane, elitist, pretentious, contrived comments from some of the "talkbackers"....

Movie critics and some people seem to just turn off the right side of their brain (the part of the brain for imagination, creativity, asbstract thinking), turned off any attempt at suspension of disbelief, mostly only payed attention to the CG and VFX (often willfully ignoring the plot and storyline), and fueled themselves with their own negative bias, their own pre-conceived concepts, their excessively high expectations, and in some cases their own over-blown uber-purism with regards to being a "fan" of the original TRON and mixed that all up to throw up their pretentious, misguided, and inane review of the movie.

Great article. Hopefully this person took a script analysis or screenwriting course because their knack for understanding the story beyond the word and image on film is savvy. My take on it is like Plato Flynn tried with the best of intentions to create an utopian society. Clu was programmed to create the perfect system and saw inperfections as a threat.

An utopian soicety isn't possible. Clu being a program was limited in vision of the world. He couldn't grow, evolve or learn. He also lacked compassion and empathy. Clu could only do what he was programmed to do.

Flynn being human could learn and grow as a person and adapt to his environment. He posses imagination and creativity. Clu doesn't.

I believe Quorra being an iso has some independent thought. She can outthink her computer opponents. She's more than the sum of her porgramming. That's the one thing Clu saw as a threat to a perfect system. Flynn describes her as a miracle.

That's my take on it. Tron Legacy does have substance along with the vuisuals and action scenes. where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online
