No changes since november 2002 on www.tron20.net
I think if Disney waits the game, the movie will be for the 2004-5-6-7... I think, I believe.
I found some "Making of Tron" 2002 documentary on Internet, thats all.

Its been a while since they have made any updates to it. I'm just wondering if they made any new overall changes within game that they are waiting to show up on the site to show.

Okay, since I actually have a few connections with some production companies, this is what is known so far about the project.
1) At least for now, the film project is DEAD. The film is still only in the scriptment phase, the first major polish has yet to be done. Supposedly, the current story once again features Flynn as the main character, but set him up as a Colonel Kurtz-type character who is fully immersed into the digital world, forsaking the physical one. A new team of electronic warriors must go in and extract him before a disaster happens.
2) Michael Eisner has his head up his ass, but that's old news. What is NEW news, however, is that The Mouse lost a LARGE chunk of money thanks to TREASURE PLANET and THE COUNTRY BEARS (which may have sealed the fate of Jim Henson Studios' working relationship with Disney). THE HAUNTED MANSION is setting up to be another bomb (I've heard the script described as "laughably bad"). Disney's next three big projects are HOME ON THE RANGE, BEARS/BROTHER BEAR (whichever they're calling it now) and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN (which actually looks damn good...Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, and Orlando Bloom? I'm there!). Pirates may be the last hop for Disney's live action studios, while HOME and BEAR(S) may just kill the traditional animation division.
3) If the film were to be greenlighted, there were two options to handle the CG-effects inhouse: DreamQuest Imaging (Disney's Inhouse CG Department) and Pixar. DreamQuest has since folded with the rest of the Burbank studio, and Pixar is in a major contract dispute over ownership of the rights to the next Toy Story film. Meaning neither company will be doing the effects, meaning they'll probably have to go to George Lucas' ILM or Jim Cameron's DIGITAL DOMAIN...which will up the budget significantly.
4) The TRON 20th Anniversary DVD is a shocking success for Disney, to the point where the DVD division is considering an unprecedented SECOND RUN of the Anniversary Edition in order to meet the demand. If Monolith makes a successful video game, then it may prompt the studio to take a second look at the project. Keyword being MAY.
5) WDC is having SEVERE management issues at the moment. The shareholders want Eisner's head on a silver platter because of the film division's rapid disintegration and low attendance in the parks (yet, they keep building those damn hotels). Rumor has it that the company has even had to cancel most of the planned 50th Anniversary rehabs for the e-ticket rides at Disneyland because of funding issues.
So there you have it. Forces are conspiring against our beloved franchise. But if there was ever a time for this project, it's now. Offbeat projects THE EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE and LILO & STITCH both did fantastically well at the box office, while the PETER PAN sequel and TREASURE PLANET, both more mainstream, traditional films, failed by a wide margin. There is a minority, but a very vocal one, that wants to see this movie get off the ground, as it is potentially a lifesaver for Disney's live action division.

Yes, I agree. Emperor's New Groove and Lilo and Stitch were GREAT films. I don't have any ambition to see any of those "Direct to DVD " movies (Peter Pan, Cinderella II, etc) as it's too obvious to me they're trying to be a cash cow with those.
A TRON sequel would be great, but ONLY if Disney gives full blessings and doesn't stick their fingers in the project and try to muck it up.
I'd rather have no sequel, than a bad one.

Bah, yes, Disney is having problems with the sequels that they're pumping out for their animated features.
Pirates of the Carebbian(sp?) sounds helluva promising!
*shakes her hand* I will have a Tron Sequel! The game will pacificy me for a while, but I promise you, I waaaaaaaaant the sequel.
(Uhhh. I've heard that Flynn was more like a mentor? Anyhooo...)

To see everyone else's view on what was said all those years ago.
Thought it'd be interesting seeing somewhat different views from what we know now, as opposed to then. I also want to get some of the original posters here, see what they think as well.
