...in the computer world like in the first movie? Or can we chalk this up to "better graphics" in the year 2010?
I'm just wondering because my 10 yr old asked me after watching TRON for the first time with me the other day.

Well, the programs in TL have better skin tone because Flynn put a copy of Photoshop on the server.abortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

To answer the thread's title, yes. It was also mentioned as a concern by a few quite a while ago. Fortunately, in the trailers, they actually seem to be intentionally using lighting to wash out the flesh tones somewhat. Or maybe some of it is post-production. So thats good... It could probably be grayer, though. Either way, hopefully it's on purpose and I hope it will be consistent with the original throughout the whole movie in this respect. It's the right thing to do.

One thing people must remember about TRON: Legacy:
TRON: Legacy does not take place in the ENCOM 511. The server in TRON: Legacy is one that Kevin Flynn built himself-even though it looks exactly like the one that was in Dilinger's office. Looks like they used a blue or grey filter on the digital world shots in an effort to get a look similar to the first film, though.on line abortion pill misoprostol dose abortion medical abortion pill online Fighting for TRON, The USERS, Both Flynns, Independents, and the mighty ISOs since '82. |

in terms of real world technical stand point..remember the original film was shot in black and white..so every frame was painted

Neither of those reasons mean we need to blindly accept faces in full Technicolor flesh tones in T:L as something visually and canonistically "good" for the franchise. I've felt for a while that the greyish flesh tones exist in the "computer world" as something that makes it uniquely, "computer world." No matter what year it is, no matter how much its evolved, no matter what server its on, is it really that bad to use that as one more mechanism to keeping the distinction between the computer world and our real world as we know it? It is uniquely "computer world" and it is uniquely Tron, imo. To see it go by the wayside would just be one more thing uniquely Tron tossed to the side.
I mean this in an objective way out of genuine curiosity: is there anything visually from the original that you would never want to see changed, evolved or reasoned away as simply being on a different server? Or should future Tron movies be free to completely reason away computer-world physics, visuals and atmosphere through story-based rationale? where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online

I wondered about this too, and the whole change from circuitry patterns to lines and symbols. I suppose you could say its the newer computer, but it shows that this is how they look even back in 83 in the Betrayal comic. So what really happened? Did he just switch from PC to Mac? Hey Traahn, not trying to be disrespectful - as much as I would like the original circuit designs on the suits and the grey look of the programs, and though there are still some things I disagree with Joseph Kosinski on, there's not much more that can be done at this point. I really wish that the circuit patterns looked closer to the original TRON (as well as the greyish look) and part of me still wonders if the spiel that Kosinski gave about why he didn't do rotoscoping, was a cop-out. If a Tron 3 comes out, I hope they go back closer to the original look. Other than that, I'm going to work on my Fanfic when time permits (Fatherhood, Being a Husband, and some video production gigs are most of my time), and I'm going to go with a much older TRON look, but at the same time I may deviate a little bit as well. Still looking forward to seeing TRON: LEGACY but I'm a little cautiously optimistic. Peace. Fighting for TRON, The USERS, Both Flynns, Independents, and the mighty ISOs since '82. |

I too was disappointed about the lack of detailed circuitry when we first saw they were going in that direction, but as we've seen more and more of the full movie I've really gotten on board with it. I think the reason it's working for me is that we are not seeing the characters independent of the world they are in anymore, and when we see it all together they tie into each other really well.
The most obvious example is the Lightcycles, where they literally flow into the bike itself, but throughout the environments we see geometries and lighting that complement and accentuate the character designs, so that the whole is greater than its parts.

About the circuits, yes, visually it seems like a bad thing. But on another level, it makes TRON garb much more feasible. If someone wants to run around on Halloween and look authentic, it is now FAR easier. One of TRON's biggest setbacks has always been costuming. With something like Star Wars, anyone can get a piece of cloth, scissors, needle and thread, and bang out a Jedi robe in a couple nights. TRON, as examplified by Tron Guy, is terribly complicated, and even with his patience, he only used EL-wire on key sections of his costumes, which made them look far less than authentic, And even if he'd wanted to light up every single circuit on his costume, he probably would've needed a car battery to power all the inverters. Now with just a few strips, and some clever layering, ANYONE can pull off a look that both feels like the film, but is also unique to whatever character they want to invent.
By another example, the inclusion of hair in the new film (and helmets used ONLY during games) also releases us from the frustration of trying to procure a style of hockey helmet that hasn't been produced in over 20 years. Skin tone? We don't need a whole bottle of gray makeup now.
I think these things were taken into consideration early in development. It makes TRON far more accessible to the enthusiast. We'll see more of it at places like Cosplay Anime, scifi conventions, E3, etc. and if we're lucky, we might actally be seeing TRON conventions soon.
