Art of TRON: Legacy

on Sunday, November, 28, 2010 10:24 PM
Received mine a few days ago, but I am not going to open the box until after I see the movie.... I am assuming it has a fair share of spoilers, if not in plot - but in 'wow' factor. I'd rather see it on screen.

Wish I'd had a little more self control but it reall doesn't reveal a ton of stuff. It does reveal more than you probably want to know.

I only looked at a handful of pages in mine, but friend looked through it all. Not too many spoilers, apparently. He was hoping for more concept art and 'making of' stuff then is actually in it. I was assuming it would have a lot of that, so I'm a little let-down... but I should have realized it's the "Art of Tron Legacy", not "The Making of Tron Legacy". I hope they make a "making of" some day. Either way, I would have picked up the "Art of" some day anyways, so it's no big deal. I can't wait to really dive into it 'after' I see the movie. I guess I was just hoping it'd have more concepts in it, like the old "Art of Tron" had. where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill online

I just flipped through mine. Amazon did an awful job packing it and it arrived in horrible shape, so back it goes. There wasn't as much concept art as I thought there would be but what was there was very nice.

Discuss it on tron-sector.com here.

I got the Art of Tron Legacy a couple days ago. It's pretty awesome, it has alot of excellent artwork in it. Though it does have some odd spelling errors.

I do think there's quite a bit of concept art was left out as well. As there are certain things missing from the book.. I do hope there's will be a "Art of Tron Legacy: Volume II"....

Certain images in the book *are* potentially major spoilers if you examine those pics closely and kinda put two and two togther....

My thoughts about what may be of been reveled (do not read if you do not want to be spoiled) SPOILER... Mouse Over To Read:
One illustration shows the Solar Sailer transporting cargo crates, and another illustration shows the inside of Clu's Command Carrier "The Rectifier" cargo bay filled with those same crates... inside those crates are Programs.. most likely Isos.... what he is doing to them is not known... I get major undertones of Jewish internment in prison camps by the Nazis type of analogy going on...

Lol. I have the out of print version of Bonifer's book. It's a classic! Got it from EBay years ago.

I was thinking the same thing, too. The impression was there and I suspect a little homage to the MCP.

I didn't read the spoiler part.... thanks for hiding it.

So this book is just basically images from the film? Hmm... well I do hope they put a "making" book. I really thought this was more of a conceptual image collection.

I also have the original, I actually received it from an educational psychologist when I was testing for the "gifted and talented education" program in 3rd grade. Still have it of course (as well as the storyboard/illustrated Blade Runner book).

Well, the art book is focused on honoring and respecting the creative artists and designers who built this world. Also, it is geared for people who appreciate art and industrial design, or those who are practicing in the field to study from. Think of the book as one large case study of how they envisioned the sequel from a creative perspective.

The making of TRON, I'm sure, will come next in greater detail from writing, production, budgeting, and other things omitted on purpose to protect the film's integrity. Because, there were thousands of designs used, there was no room to fit all of it in one giant book or else, it would have been prohibitively expensive.

Now, all I want is the soundtrack, Wii game and then ultimately witness the power of Clu Fu on 12-17!

Most of the book is about the ideas, the process that went into the conceptual design of several major things in the film, it's a variety of concept art for all sorts of things from the digital city scape, the game arenas, lightcycles, light runner, and the look of the different Programs in the movie and how different types have distinctive looks. A few pieces of early concept art are spread throughout. It's not just pics from the film.

While it leaves out a few things (possibly very spoiler-ish as it was released now and not after Dec 17th) it's still an excellent book.

I have two copies of the original Art of TRON book.

I was going to be putting my non-autographed copy on Ebay soon, but would rather sell it to someone here.

Willing to entertain private offers here, but please don't come at me with a $20 and hopeful look.

I don't want a million bucks for it, but I know it's worth a few bucks more. Let's say I will start the bidding at $35. That's just a bit lower than what one of two books sold for recently on Ebay and considerably less than the $100 bucks someone else is trying for right out the gate.

Any offers?
