Tron: Betrayal Graphic Novel & Tron Legacy Art Book

on Monday, November, 22, 2010 10:22 AM
I got the Betrayal GN a few days ago. I'd already read the individual issues in electronic form but it's nice to have the real book. A couple interesting things - the graphic novel has a short prologue recapping the events in the first Tron movie. For those who got the individual issues, was that present? I didn't see it in the version I'd read.

One tidbit that I was confused about... in that recap it said Kevin Flynn created the MCP. Is that true? I thought Sark wrote it and that Flynn just taught it to play chess?

All in all I like the GN. It's a bit smaller than a standard comic which surprised me. Also surprising was that the cover made no mention whatsoever of Marvel! It was just a Disney book.

Also, Amazon.com shipped the Art of Tron book! I'm really excited to see this book as I love concept art... but now I'm deciding whether I should look at it before the movie. After all the clips and trailers there seems to be little in the way of surprises left for the movie... but you never know...where to buy abortion pill abortion types buy abortion pill onlineabortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

Greetings Program:

I read the first part online, and then went out and got the second part at my local comic book store. To answer your questions:
1)I don't recall seeing the prologue but if it was there, it was probably shortened;
2)Kevin Flynn and the MCP - this fact is a little strange. In the timeline at the encom website, it says that Dr. Walter Gibbs created the MCP, and in the movie TRON, Dillinger himself states he created the MCP. Personally, I believe Dillinger created him;
3)I may have to go out and get the graphic novel to see anything I missed with the individual issues.
Thanks.

I've always had the impression that a lot of people worked on the MCP. Dillinger probably started the basics while Flynn, Walter, and many other all contributed to it. I think that's why it doesn't look or sound like any one User, but is a kind of amalgamation of many (though appropriating and absorbing all those other programs probably played a role as well).

Yes, I noticed that the Gospel of Flynn says that he created the MCP. We're now in a position where the website says that Gibbs created the MCP, Betrayal says that Flynn created the MCP and in movie 1 Dillinger says to the MCP "Now wait a minute I wrote you". This confusion could so easily have been avoided...

I also noticed in the first 11 page story of Betrayal that the guys in the tank were coloured incorrectly. They were red instead of the green they should have been.

On a couple of pages TRON was missing a square from his T, and I'm sure that on page 92, just after TRON and Clu's progarms have done some major dishing out, that Clu and TRON's dialogue has been mixed up. I need to conform that though.

It can be taken that Walter, Flynn, and Dillinger all added stuff to MCP.

Thinking about it, I ... almost wonder if what Flynn added to MCP is what made MCP because CLU 2.0 seems to have that same MCP issue. :P (Or maybe CLU 2.0 is just a jerk.)

Speaking of which, my art book has shipped. Squee.

When do we see tanks in Betrayal? I don't remember them in the story. I did notice two guards in the background of the command center type place in the first issue who were colored red in one panel, but blue in all the others.

Check out this themed Tron Legacy cover out from a magazine located in the UK. The D23 members exclusive cover is also snazzy too.

I'm talking about page 6 of the first 11 page mini story in Betrayal that re-tells TRON 1.

In panel 2, that's a tank interior and the programs are coloured red instead of green as they were in the movie.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Oh, I see. When I heard there was a synopsis of the first movie in the collection I imagined a 1 page text synopsis or something. That's neat that there's such a long one. What is the art style like? Is it the same artists as the rest of Betrayal, or does it look like the samples we've seen of the full comic book version they are doing?

It's more stylized and cartoonish, but in a pleasing way. It's not the same artist as the Tron adaptation they are doing.
