So I noticed today that the demo for Tom Clancey's HAWX was on Steam, so I dl'd it to try it out. Whenever I start it up, though, it crashes and doesn't work at all. Anyone have any idea why?
Kinda made me upset after watching a good half-hour of gameplay footage while waiting for it to install, lol. 
EDIT: Now this is odd, I just checked the Steamapps folder in Windows Explorer (where all Steam-installed games go), and the HAWX Demo isn't even in there.
I'll have to try reinstalling it later. Wah.

Have you trie running it as admin on Vista? Usually you would right click on the icon and run as and given the option as admin I believe is one way of doing it. Then there is the compatability mode of vista and have it mimick running on a earlier oparating system as well. Try those two out to see if it will make a difference for the game?

I actually found out that the demo installs with an earlier version of DirectX that's not compatible with the actual game. I reinstalled the latest version of DirectX from Microsft's website and the game ran great.
Problem solved, thanks internet!

DOH :O There you go. An incompatable DirectX thingie. Now I know why I try and stay with open GL over here. Well at least you have it running nicely now. I finally got XAMPP on one computer running nicely and Wamp running on another system as well. They are used to create web sites with Apache, Mysql, and php combined. A lot easier to work with than going through the long way of getting IIS6/& running, Then hardwiring php and Mysql configured into the servers themselves. Especially on a AMD Athlon and Semperon systems. On my intel server no problem to run them. But on AMD I keep getting the problem of getting mysql running properly on the Athlon Servers. Both are running Windows 2003 server and 2008 server respectively.
