G-Speak: the future of computer interfaces

on Wednesday, November, 19, 2008 4:28 PM

G-Speak
I came across this today, and a couple of thoughts entered my mind.

1) How cool is this and 2) what took so long for this to become reality?

This goes way above and beyond even using a touchscreen. This is those scenes in Minority Report come to life, for real. If they can just make the system a bit more refined and get rid of the gloves, it would be truly amazing and incredibly useful.

I can see it as a cool device for gaming and maybe development for a few multimedia applications... however, I don't see any technology replacing the computer mouse anytime soon for common computer tasks.

The gaming properties for this method of interaction would be endless for most game types like FPS, 3rd Person, RTS, 3D puzzles, etc... That alone would help it sell if it can be used properly and if its reliable.
