As a huge fan of the original Sim City games (Sim City, Sim City 2000, Sim City 3000, and Sim City 4), I've been really disappointed with what EA is doing to that franchise. Seriously, they're stepping away from the one thing that makes that series great, extremely complex city management. I just read about the new Sim City game, called Sim City Creator, and to be honest, it looks a lot like a combination between Sim City 3000 (with the news ticker), and Sim City 4 (with the ability to fly through the city and a lot of visual elements), which I thought were great. To me, it looks like the first true Sim City game since Sim City 4, and that makes me really glad. Unfortunately, a PC version hasn't been announced yet, only a Wii and DS version. Screenshots:



I looked closely at this screenshot, and I noticed that the road is curved. I remember Will Wright saying that he wanted to have freeform roadbuilding in the next SimCity game. Awesome.



I think there was something that hinted at a building editor. No idea if this screenshot reinforces it or not.

The reason I love Sim City is because of how serious it's always been. MySims and Sim City DS really kinda ruined that with a cartoony look. This game, however (at least the Wii version, shown above), seems to hit the right notes.

Oh, and the disasters are back. Hopefully, they'll be Sim City 4-esque disasters, cause those were awesome.

Anyone else here anticipating this game, or a huge Sim City fan? I personally think the only thing wrong with this is the name. It just doesn't sound like a typical Sim City game. I think it should be called Sim City 5, based on what I see.

SUPER CON: The advisors look like MySims.

In other words, instead of this super awesome advisor from Sim City 4:

I seriously cannot stand the MySims, it's unfortunate that they're using them instead of regular sims, because the visual look of the game seems to be like Sim City 4, which had regular Sims in it, not MySims. Might as well load up random Mii's instead.

That'll probably be the only issue I have with it. I'm sure if Will Wright were working on it, it'd be much different. Of course, it'd probably be a PC exclusive, too.

This is bringing back some good Sim City 3000 memories.. Particularly the news ticker:

"Scientists confirm broccoli is indeed an alien creature bent on destroying the human race" - One of the many comical headlines that appear if you're doing really good

"Strange sightings reported between areas 50 and 52" - Predicts an alien invasion (if non-user triggered disasters are on)

"Mrs. SimLeary buys prize-winning cow" - Predicts a fire (if non-user triggered disasters are on)

"Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-BATMAN!" - Triggered via cheatcode.

In my opinion, Sim City 4 worked great. Definitely try it and it's expansion pack if you have a chance to do so. The expansion pack added a lot of new features, the biggest one being U-Drive It mode, where you could drive vehicles you unlock through your city.

I'm gonna try to rent this new one ASAP.

That's Sim City Societies, which is the first Sim City game that really broke my heart. It was just a quick cash-in from EA.

This game makes me glad, except for the MySims. They can go fall in a pit and die.
