First off, lemme say that I do not own Half Life 2 or CS:S, the only program that Garrys Mod says it requires is Half Life 2 Deathmatch.
I keep getting this error:
I did install it with some patch that said I didn't need Half Life 2.. Could the uninclusion of CS:S be the prob?
Thanks in advance.

I think it really comes down to two things. Uni-Vista and Unicorns... and since I killed the latter, there is only one Uni-Virus left..
Ok.. just joking around.. but.. didn't you buy the 'Orange Box'?

No, I didn't get the Orange Box. I purchased Portal alone. Right now, I'm kinda wobbling between Spore and OB.

Good choices.... Hey... I'll do a little research for you and if I can find anything about #9, I'll let you know..
BTW... Love the fact that you are into PC gaming... Let me know how SPORE is.... I have the creature part.. but reluctant (and a wee pissed since I 'bought the damn thing') towards the finally.. uhh.. part..
Nevertheless.. I'll see what I can do..

I used to play a lot of PC games, but by around 2004 they started getting a little too advanced and eventually incompatible with my system. This is the first time that I've actually bought a PC game (that being Portal) since TRON 2.0 in 2005. It feels like I'm playing computer games for the first time, lol.
When games became obsolete on my computer, I did the logical thing and switched over to game consoles and arcades. However, since I have a Wii, there's a lot of neat looking 360 titles I can't play. On the other hand all 360 games are ported to the PC, so that works out..

Every time I build me a new computer I keep searching for a windows 9x emu. Doesn't have to be the whole OS but perhaps something like MAME or DosBox where I can install my old win9x games and be able to play them.
Now.. I know.. Everyone and their sister says, "Why don't you use Windows compat mode in XP?"
... and I respond...
"Because it doesn't always work for a lot of my games."
... and they respond...
"Maybe you are doing something wrong."
...and I say...
"I never do anything wrong cause I am so awesome like that."
...and they say...
"You are so full of crap."
...and I say...
"No you are."
...and they say...
"No I'm not, you are... times ten."
...and I say...
"No I'm not, You are... times infinity... so there."
...and they say...
"I'm telling my mommy."
...and then I run off and hide...
So... doesn't anyone else have trouble running some Win9x games in XP even using compatibility mode?

Of course! The biggest culprits for the growing incompatibility of Win9x games on WinXP are the GPU manufacturers because they are writing drivers that are optimized only for the very latest games and are almost completely forsaking compatibility with games even only three or four years old. Being a Win9x gamer on WinXP ain't easy.

lol.. I'll remember that... :P
One thing I like about DosBox is that it emulates the old SoundBlaster cards rather fairly... however in some cases I'm not able to use 'general midi' (but usually they fix that in their next version so that's not a problem). I just wished I could find something that can emulate a 3Dfx Voodoo 1 or 2 card. I've been having so much trouble playing I'82 and others that either don't use directx drivers very well or rely on 'Glide' drivers.
I saw a video about the upcoming windows 7 where it's suppose to make better use of the virtual machine (and if I had better specs I would have already tried it out). I don't know if the emulate older drivers yet...
.... and if they don't then I'll tell them, "Up your nose with a rubber hose."
(been watching reruns of 'Welcome Back Kotter' lately.. lol)
