Hey all, I just signed for the keys to a 1 bedroom appartment! Its my first place from home and I'll be moving in with my Girlfriend on the 15th of August. It needs a little bit of decorating and I'll need to furnish it. But its just had a new kitchen put in place so thats good. I am on the first floor and there is no one under me so I dont have to worry too much about noise.

Congratulations there. Your ou on your own with your girlfriend. I guess that your getting prepared in packing and all that for the both of you.

Thanks guys packing hasn't started yet my girlfriend is still deciding what colour I am having on the walls because I have no say  . Just got to sort out a TV and internet package now. Going to buy the cooker, washer and fridge once the place has been painted. Got some more good news. I got the job! I start on the 18th of August not sure what I'll be earning but it will be at least £16'000 a year. Looks like things are starting to come together finally!

Good for you!
A bit of advice from an old married guy. Living together changes a lot of things. Be open to change and talk a lot about those changes. Makes it all go much smoother!

Congrats on the new place AND the new job! 
Man - that's a lot more than I earned on my first job... or second, or third, or fourth.  Oh well - 5th time... or was that the 6th or 7th time that was the charm for me? It took me a while to get a decent gig.

Thanks everyone I've been painting for the past few days. I am a little annoyed because when I took the place they said that there were no problems with the flat however. We have:
A leak from upstairs appartment coming into our electric boiler room. (and the lady in the room above us wont let the guys fix it)
An electric boiler that doesnt work.
Leaky pipe in the kitchen sink.
A window hanging on by one screw.
And we only got 1 set of keys for 2 people which means I had to spend £20 getting another set cut.
So I am not that happy at the moment, the problems are getting fixed for free. But its not the point they should have been all sorted before I was given the keys. Anyway I dont really mind because its my first place what do I expect

Hey... let me throw you a house warming party... lol...
Brings back memories of my first place. It was a great experience. The new-ness of a being on my own and the pride of showing off the place once I got everything looking the way I wanted it....
