I was just chatting with Layer today: and he told me that he had the problem with being kicked off a server, even though he had the map. Apparently, both you and TRON.dll were having this problem, too.
He told me that he traced the issue to a new driver update for his onboard Realtek audio chip. I think he rolled back to an older version of the driver, and the problem went away.
So, in other words, Windows Update could have downloaded a new software driver for your onboard sound, and it may have mucked things up. Which, frankly, is a really bizarre cause for the problem. But I trust Layer to know what he's talking about.
