Any of you 'over 30' sector members see Get Smart?

I say 'over 30' because those are the members most likely to have seen and enjoyed the original TV series in syndication, if not in its first run. If you're younger, have seen the series, and like it, then you've got some good taste in TV!

The wife and I just saw the new movie and we laughed pretty much the whole way through it. It'd be great if this turned into a series of movies; seeing as how the Bond movies of the past two decades have basically all sucked, Get Smart is in a great position to pick up the slack.

F*CK!

Man - that REALLY pisses me off.

Not the film, or Get Smart - but I just got REALLY pissed off at FireFox 3 for the first time. I just wrote a response to this thread and reflected on some fun childhood memories of Get Smart and my interest in seeing the film, but then when I pressed the "add this message" button, FireFox 3 had to go and f*cking "protect" me from TRON-Sector because it's still on the warning-list. I was unable to back up and recover my post.

And so, I lost my original post.

I am a little to blame as I did not do a select-all and copy of my post before clicking the button, which ironically, I usually do.

Curse me for saying this, but IE to the rescue.

I watched Get Smart as a kid in the late 70's & early 80's and loved the show. The intro sequence was great, Max's show-phone was cooler than anything, and the cone of silence just rocked! There was never a shortage of weird assignments for Max and 99 to go on, and there was never a shortage of biziarre gadgets for Max to use in his adventures (if memory serves). It's been many years since I saw the show.

I didn't think the film would be any good when I first heard about it, but the commercials changed my mind. It seemed to have some of the spirit of the original portrayal of the characters and I liked that a lot. The actor who plays Max in the film seemed like a good fit in the role.

The fact that you enjoyed the film (MutoidMan) is a good sign - you being another child of the 70's and 80's like I was.

I plan to catch it on DVD when it comes out. Looks like there is fun to be had in the film. If I were a theater-going person, I might see it there, but I rarely venture to the theaters these days. I don't mind waiting a few months for the DVD.

And this concludes the shortened version of what FireFox 3 "protected" me from saying just minutes ago. I love FF over IE any day, but today, that's IE: 1 and FF: 0. Shame on you FF!
