Tron 2.0 Vista mouse control issues

on Tuesday, May, 13, 2008 7:46 AM
Hi everyone,

I'm wanting to play through Tron 2.0 for the third time (I try to do it once a year at least) and I've got Vista Ultimate 64 bit and when I start the game, everything works fine until I actually get to the point where I'm in the game. Then the mouse doesn't function at all. If I hit escape to go to the menu in the game, the mouse works.

This is really ticking me off. If anyone knows how to fix it, my gratitude extends to you.

I've tried running in compatibility mode and as an administrator, as well. I also have the modified patch.

Hmm. So it works fine in the menus, but not actually in the game itself?

Kind of sounds like your player profile is messed up somehow. Try going into your Tron 2.0 folder and look for a folder called "Profiles". Move the profile in there (called "Player.txt" by default) somewhere else for safe keeping, and make sure the folder is empty. Start the game again. It should generate a new default profile. Try playing the game, and see if it's any different now. If it helped, you'll need to customize your controls and settings for the game again.

If there's no difference, move that file back into the "Profiles" folder. (So you don't have to customize the controls again, for nothing.)

For me, Tron 2.0 works flawlessly in Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I definitely recommend running as administrator, I don't think the game will work too well otherwise. I also have UAC turned off. But setting a compatibility mode isn't necessary.

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, that didn't work for me. I have UAC disabled, and I did try running in administrator mode.

I was actually considering maybe buying a new mouse - Right now I have an old Intellimouse, perhaps there's something screwy going on there?

I don't know, I'm running out of ideas, but thank you for your suggestion.

Yeah, it's tough to say what's causing the problem. Swapping to another mouse would quickly determine whether it's the mouse or something else.

It could have something to do with Microsoft's Intellipoint software, if you're using it. But, not likely. I don't have a Microsoft mouse these days, but I know that in the case of Logitech: their software detects when a game is running, and can automatically change the DPI and button settings on you behind your back. This could possibly lead to the mouse being sluggish or not responding. Microsoft may have a similar feature.

Just wondering maybe it might be in an option somewhere that you can change the attributes of the mouse within the game itself when your in the playmode.

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

Thanks for your help guys, but I figured it out.

I reinstalled it (for a third time) and it works fabulously. I have no idea why it behaved in this manner, but I'm just happy that it works. Perhaps it's because I went completely through with an uninstall first. I'm guessing there was something messed up in my registry somehow.

Boy did I ever get excited when i got my Y-amp.
