I dont have a clue but the transport costs alone (to the UK) would be more than I can afford ATM

Your choices
1. Ebay as one lot - DONT !!!!
2. Sell to a collector - I cant think of a better forum than this and your present circle of contacts. I think, apart form Hollywood types, it would be too rich for us.
3. Break it up into smaller collections, I'll have the Tron Pins, you name the price
4. Store it for later, either in a lockup - shame or a museum on long term (years) loan.

My prefered option would be to give me the pins and then museum the rest

Realistically - dont break it up and as we cant afford it - museum it is.

I have pretty much settled on keeping the entire collection based on discussions with the wife.

However, I am writing letters and sending DVDs of the collection to two different museums to see if they might have interest in displaying some of my stuff for a while. You never know until you ask right?

So it will stay safe, but it is going to get stored for a long time while I get this picture biz going.

Despite our own wants of your collection I'm very glad you decided to keep it! I know from experience that if you don't think decscions like this through, it will come back and bite you in the arse.

I will buy the limited edition Tron statue you bought from DisneyAuctions.com (when the site existed), since I got screwed on mine. Half my light bulbs have burned out after using it for only a few hours, as you know. Stupid shoddy construction. Who makes quality product any more?

Just kidding. I'm okay with mine, but am still a bit peeved over the lights burning out and Disney not taking care of it because their "warranty" was only like 2 months. They must've known they should only do it for 2 months instead of a year. Yes, sorry, I'm a bit bitter, I guess. I'll get over it.

Thank you. I hope you never sell it, though. That is a rare item definitely worth keeping, no matter if the statue's lights dim to a faded shadow at the fall of sunlight, or not.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Hello Dave and the sector ! It's been ages since I stopped by so it's good to see some familiar faces. I'm somewhat intrigued by this thread since I've had similar thoughts regarding my collection at times over the last year or so. At some point you have to question what's the use in having 10+ large rubbermaid bins filled with Tron stuff when you can't display much more than a tenth of your collection at any one time :|. I realize at this point you've decided to keep everything for now, but I still want to comment.

The idea of loaning everything to a museum isn't a bad one, however I'm not sure how much interest there would be in a Tron collection that large. Many museums would expect this type of stuff to be donated and not loaned so that may be another issue to consider. IMO the first museum you should talk to about it would be the Museum of the Moving Image in New York. They have quite a collection of film related items and they would definitely appreciate receiving part of your collection. I'm friends with people in the toy industry who have donated horror related toys to them before so no doubt oddball Tron merchandise would be well received.

I'm sure you've already come to this conclusion, but the idea of selling everything to someone in one lot for even 50% of 'value' is a probably pipe dream. The sad reality is that you can count the number of uber-hardcore collectors on one hand, if not three fingers. The most lucrative option would be to split everything into lots and sell things slowly but surely on eBay. That's the problem though, who really has enough time to sort a thousand plus items into lots, photograph everything, and then list it all on eVilBay. If you ever decide to liquidate the entire collection your best bet may be to turn everything over to a competent friend or family member locally who could take the necessary time to split and sell the lot properly for a fee.

Besides other than the big items a lot of the smaller stuff just doesn't go for what it used to on eBay. I remember a time when the UK holographic light disc used to clear $50+ on eBay and I've bought two more in the last couple of years for less than $10. Sadly I could cite examples like this one all day long .

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
