Could only think of Encom 511

on Saturday, April, 12, 2008 9:14 PM
I was looking through old computers and just seen that they had a link to some actual sales to some classical on ebay. When one caught my eye that reminded me of the encom 511 super computer. But in this case it was a PDP computer what looked like about the same height as the mainframe in the trailers.

VROOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

I can only imagine. When I had seen this I thought of the computer that they had used in Tron. You might be right on that for Fortran or even cobol for that matter. with 128k of ram in a system like that.

You can find out about a lot of old computer stuff at Computer History Museum. Including the the Cray-1 Which I find to look very familiar. :0

I'm cold and calculating. Don't press my buttons.

That is another good place to go as well for things like this. And yes I do remember the cray 1 as well. I think at one point on Cray website they had some video for I think two of their super computers. I do not remember which ones exactly. But you could get the explaination about the how it was made.
