I went up to my Super NES today to make some music in Mario Paint. I started it up, and instead of Mario Paint's title screen, I get a ton of weird boxes and random noises from the game's memory.
Worried, I decided to pop in another SNES game: Gradius 3.
Nothing.
I tried cleaning these cartridges and nothing happened. I began to get very worried. I tried the rest of my Super Nintendo games, and a majority of them didn't work. I personally think it may be a consistant problem, where the system is having trouble using one particular feature of the game cartridge (Example: only games that use Mode7 effects don't work). Here's the list of games that do NOT work:
Mario Paint
Gradius III
Mario's Early Years - Preschool Fun (don't ask..) *
Super Mario All Stars
F-Zero *
Mario is Missing
Pilotwings *
Tetris Attack
Inspector Gadget (again, don't ask..)
---
These games DO work:
Donkey Kong Country
Super Gameboy
Super Mario World
Paperboy 2
Starfox
Stunt Race FX
---
The only similarities I could find was that Starfox and Stunt Race FX both used the FX chip, and they work, and that some of the nonworking ones use Mode 7 graphics. A * indicates a game that utilized Mode 7 graphics, and I may have left a few out.
I will have a chance to test the nonworking ones on another SNES, but not till next week.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
