watched the movie again with the audio commentary. I never bothered to watch it since I got the 20th Anniversary edition DVD. I couldn't help but to notice Steven Lisberger's passion for the film, and often his ability to laugh at himself. I'm curious if DaveTron gets the same impression from Steven . . .?

I do. Steven is a fun person to talk to. I hate the term deep, but he is truly deep. He's always thinking and usually on several different levels at the same time.
When we first met it was in my office at Buena Vista Games and everyone was talking about the making of the film and getting into basic details, but Steven was getting way into it and only really connecting with one person in the room, me. You know, the TRON geek. :-)
There was also the fact that I knew a couple of facts he'd forgotten too.
I have always seen the passion for TRON in him, and it's part of why I hate to see him having to deal with the clowns at Disney. They try to draw on his passion without giving him any hope. It drains him.
Now, I see passion for Soul Code, and I think that's where his future lies. I think it's gonna be something special, and I haven't even read it yet.

Tron has a lot of fans, but a smaller number of people truly "get" it.

I'm still bummed that SL's original script, the one about the search engine, was dismissed. I'm curious what SL's take was, on that topic. The studio apparently didn't want to fund a movie version, maybe tell them to fund SL's development of a book or comic version. Heck, I'd settle for a short story! Whatever it takes, as long as his ideas don't get stuck in a folder while the studios argue about ticket sales. (End rant.)
