Tron 2.0 save games corrupting gameplay?

I was halfway through playing Tron 2.0 on PC when it decided it would crash after a save.

It appears that all my save games have ben corrupted by this final save: reloading any of them causes a crash at load end.

Removing the save games allows the game to restart normally from the beginning.

Uninstalling then reinstalling is fine until I reinstate my save games, at which point I get an identical crash, regardless of which save game I load.

Is there any record of corrupt save games like this in the past? Is there any way to at least restore the save game files to at least load an earlier save (I'm assuming its a fault with the 'overview' save file rather than every single save being dodgy) ?

Yes, it's very possible for saved games to go corrupt. And once they do, there is probably nothing you can do about it.

There's an .ini file that keeps track of your saves (the "overview" file, as you put it), along with the saves themselves. If the .ini file is bad, it might be possible to edit it and then rescue your saves. But it's much more likely that the saves themselves are bad.

Check the Save1001.ini file in a text editor, and see how it looks. Is it scrambled or damaged in any way?

Usually if there's a problem with a save, you can try loading the Autosave generated every time you enter a new level, and see if that works. But since you uninstalled and reinstalled the game, I don't know what the status of the Autosave is (whether or not it's been replaced by a newer Autosave from an earlier point). The Autosave is called Reload.sav.

Greetings, Antiriad2097 and welcome to TRON-Sector!

Sorry to hear about your corrupt game saves. That just sucks!

My TRON 2.0 crashed a few times during game play, but never during a save or anything.


Much as I've enjoyed the game, I'm loathe to start afresh this far in.

If you are unable to recover any of your saves, perhaps someone can offer a saved level for you to download and you can at least start from the level you left off on.

Even if you end up starting again from the beginning, it's still a great game and worth restarting IMO. Annoying to have to do so, yes, but in the end, I think you'll be glad you did. Heck - the first thing I did once I completed the single-player adventure was to immediately start it all over again and play through from start to finish.
