Hi everyone!
I've only completed TRON 2.0 some days ago. I bought the game last year and I've only found time to play the game recently.
My question is about the PRANKSTER BIT weapon.
I've found the ALPHA version of this weapon at the beginning of the ''Assembly Level''. Near the end of this same level, there is a CORE OPTIMIZER that seems to be the last one in the whole game. If all I'm saying is right, then one can't upgrade the PRANKSTER BIT to a version higher than BETA.
So my question is: I am missing something or what? Is there a way to upgrade this weapon to GOLD?
If the answer is no, then let me tell you that it's rather weird. Usually, you have to give the player at least one or two occasions to use a weapon of his choice to it's full potential. And this last weapon should be made available at least one or two levels earlier.

This same question has been asked a few times before, most recently here.
You can't upgrade the Prankster Bit to Gold because Monolith didn't want you to. They introduce the Prankster Bit extremely late in the game, and by that point it's not possible to upgrade it to Gold because there are no longer enough COWs around.
The Prankster Bit at Gold would have made the game too easy, so that's why they left you stuck at Alpha very late in the game. But they should have included a cheat code that lets you upgrade your subroutines and performance ratings to full, for those people who wanted it. I think that was a major oversight.
There is a way to upgrade the Prankster Bit to Gold, but not within the game. Go to http://www.ldso.net/tronfaq and check out the Cheats section. You can modify your saved game to give you Gold.

BTW, I love this game! I should have tried it long before.
Congratulation for making this game still alive. You've probably made more for this game than all the employees of BNG together. I used to think that Ubisoft is the worst publisher but maybe I was wrong...

Glad you finally got a chance to play the game. I was glued to it for weeks just after I bought mine, then found my self addicted to online multilayer light cycles for a long time after that!

You know, TronFAQ should be on the payroll of BVG. He's single-handedly done more to promote TRON 2.0 AND help people with their questions than BVG ever did. He did this for the love of the game (and TRON). Can you imagine how well this game might have sold if he had been on the payroll?

I agree. TronFAQ should be commended for his hard work. His FAQ for Tron 2.0 is worth more than gold to those that play the game. Also, he plays a huge part in keeping the spirit alive.

Aw shucks. I just don't want to see this game ignored and forgotten, even if its own publisher has done just that.

I think BVG Disney Interactive and Electronic Arts probably both vie for the top spot as: worst. game. publisher. ever. With Vivendi Universal Games probably not far behind. I'm not sure about Ubisoft, though.
Check out what EA is doing to their customers who bought games from last year. Last year! And they're already dropping Multiplayer support! They did this the previous year, too! 
But at least they had the decency to make a public announcement about it. Not like BVG, who quietly pulled the plug on the Tron 2.0 servers and hoped no one would make a fuss about it.

I returned to TRON 2.0 after several...years? absence, and found everything I needed to get rerezzed neatly packed for download where he has his files hosted. :thumbsup:
