TRON comic book - considered "canon"?

I've been intrigued by the TRON comic book that picks up after TRON 2.0, but I'm wondering if fans around here consider it canonical? I guess it would ultimately be the decision of the creative minds behind the movie and the game whether the comics are a legitimate continuation, but I'd like to know what the fans think. I am thinking of starting a PBEM Tron RPG that picks up after the game, and I'm wondering where I want it to kick off. Knowing what the fans think would help me with my decision.

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I'm personally waiting until the comic ends before I decide exactly how it fits in to the continuity of the Tron universe. Can't make a judgment until then.

Unlike some fans, I personally have a beef with stories that mess too much with established continuity in a fictional universe. What comes after should always try to follow what came before as closely as possible, unless a previous story was particularly bad.

A good example of a new production that is staying true to its roots and not contradicting (too much) what came before is the new Doctor Who. The stories have broken the odd rule, but for the most part have been very respectful of what came before.

I have to say, I love the game. Played through it on both PC and XBox several times, even before there was a definitive reason for me to do so creatively. But as much as I ldo ove the game (visuals are amazing), I feel the story as depicted (not the concept of the story mind you, but the execution) was awful. And not (in my opinion) particularly true to the source material itself.

However, TronFAQ's approach to the comic (and every spin off) is correct. The only "real" Tron is the film. Video game, comic, anything, is supplemental in nature. And particularly, no piece of work should be judged when incomplete. It's up to each individual fan where these spin offs reside.
