Here is a strange question...
How many on the sector smoke (and by smoke I mean tobacco)? You don't have to answer this if you don't want to but I'm curious.
I've smoked cigarettes for almost 20 years now and I'm trying so hard to quit. I've tried everything from patches, nicotine gum, home remedies, etc... and nothing works. I even find cutting back as being something formadable.
I really need to quit and I was wondering if there was anyone here who had smoked and was able to successfully quit.

I smoked for 12 years and quit over 3 years ago.
There were three things working in my favor.
1: I waited until I had all four wisdom teeth pulled. You run a high risk of infection if you smoke in those circumstances.
2: I used the patch.
3: I really was sick of smoking.
Every day you go without a cigarette is a day you never have to go through again. You cheat and have a cigarette, you just made it that much harder on yourself. Even a drag. Sure, you well better for a few minutes. Then what?
If you decide to quit, quit all the way.order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pillwhere to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

I quit about 10 years ago and it had to be just cold turkey. It took me a bunch of tries but I eventually kicked it. I couldn't stand it anymore. It started really getting in the way of my outdoor activities like hiking and I just couldn't allow that.
The hardest part for me was about a few months after I stopped and thought I had it beat but the urge comes in waves. The waves for me were less and less but they were strong when they hit. I remember I was always trying to make deals like "How about only at parties" or, "how about just weekends." but I knew it was all or nothing. I think I just eventually forgot about it. Hard to imagine for you right now I know but ithe craving will pass. My poor family had to deal with a maniac for the first 3 weeks tho. That was hell.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Ok...now to be serious...nicotine is a drug that is just as (if not more) addictive than heroin. Various friends and members of my family have quit smoking. The best advice I can give you is do your best. If you ever DO fall off the wagon, don't beat yourself up too bad - just try again. If you don't give up, you *will* be successful eventually, you just gotta hang in there
Just think of all the $$$ you'll have to spend on something else BESIDES the ciggies (KILLER RIG PC!!!). Think of how many chicks will dig ya when you smell better (honestly, smokers really smell kinda funky). And, think of how much longer you can live without filling your lungs with crap... if you successfully quit smoking, you may just be able to live long enough to see Tron 2 made!! ________________________

Thanks so much for your input, guys. I am ashamed to say that I'm smoking as I'm writing this... well... I'm putting it out.
Quiting is the hardest thing I have ever tried. If I can at least cut back by 50% then that would be something. Another factor that is making it hard is that I have a lot of stress in my life right now but I'm sure that somehow I will try to manage both.
Thanks so much for your response. If I make any progress, then I will surely post here... where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online |

Very very true. I've been trying... but I'll keep trying... and I'll try harder.
You are so right. The money, the smell, the concept of living longer. Thats a nice goal.. Thanks Nikster... |

I’m addicted to caffeine, so I know what you mean. Luckily my addiction comes in a less offensive form, except I am sick of hearing about coffee/tea stains from my dentist. Good luck to you, and I hope you do it. Just remember for every cigarette you don’t smoke, you’re sticking it to that lousy tobacco company that did this to you in the first place.

As a use-to-be relentless smoker... I never really was upset about not smoking in public places. In fact, it made a lot of sense. My only problem is when I get the 3rd degree from some random jerk who doesn't have a clue what he is talking about. I mean... my god... Do people really think that I haven't been told before that smoking is bad?
Look... I'm not a jerk... but I can be a real creep when people bother me about smoking... and this is coming from a guy who is trying to quit.
Nevertheless, I know what you mean. You'll never have to worry about me making an issue over smoking in public places. I don't just do it because it's the law, but because I respect others.

I smoked from '89 to '94. I ended up quitting by accident.
I was taking martial arts in '94 - none of that point stuff either - this was FULL contact, survival stuff. I cannot even begin to describe the amount of strength and endurance that is required to last through a 2 or 3 minute FULL contact sparring match. To put it in perspective - most street fights or schoolyard fights are over in 20 to 30 seconds.
In a nutshell, I got tired of getting my butt kicked repeatedly because I would typically run out of juice long before the match was over. The Master suggested I stop smoking and I will last longer.
I knew I couldn't just quit, so I just set out to cut back. I'd exercise and then skip my after-exercise cigarette (yes, I smoked after exercising ). Then dinner time and I would be able to enjoy my after meal cigarette... but instead I figured I'll skip that one too. I was doing ok so far. Then my before bed cigarette... but I skipped that since I was doing ok so far. Then the next morning - the best cigarette of the day is always that first - it's so relaxing and always tasted the best. You guessed it - I skipped it too. See the pattern?
I ended up just stopping. I quit cold-turkey and never even meant to. Days went by and I had not smoked so I set out never to smoke again after making it that far. I had a pack and a half of cigarettes left at the time and gave them to my girlfriend (later to be my wife) who still smoked.
At the time I quit, I was only smoking a half-pack a day. I was never a 2-pack a day person or anything. At my peak, it was about a pack a day. Maybe that helped a little too.
For the longest time, what I missed the most was that stress-cigarette. There's nothing like a good smoke when you're stressed out or agitated. It took literally years for that desire to smoke under stressful conditions to fully subside. It's been 13 years now and I haven't smoked since I quit. These days, I don't miss a thing. Glad I quit too.
Within weeks of quitting, I did find myself having more energy and lasting longer against my sparring partners. I even started kicking their butts. A sick thrill, I must admit, but there is something very gratifying about weakening your opponent to the point where they can barely defend themselves against you and then going in for the kill. Martial arts are a great discipline though. If not for any other reason in my life, they helped me quit smoking.
BTW - if you're going to quit, you have to really want it. Not just knowing it's better for you, but you really have to want it down to the core. Once I realized I could go days without smoking, I REALLY wanted to quit, period. And I did it. In time, you will too.
Good luck, Qix77.

Thanks for the support, bud..
I don't look at it as being the company's fault because I'm responsible for my own actions. I find that people who sue tobacco companies because of their health issue do so either out of greed or because they refuse to take responsibility. I regard it the same as if someone sues a fast food restaurant because they became over weight.
.... but.... however.... I could really use the cash... lol... So count me in... lol...

OMG... That is the best time to smoke. Nothing on Earth can complement a meal like a good cigarette. That has to be be biggest obstical I'll have to overcome.
Thanks for your testimony and support.. I'm trying really hard. I went without a smoke for several hours and it's becoming hazardous to everyone's heath who are around me for the moment... lol... but they'll live..

Well... there is that after sex cigarette. Few things were as gratifying as following up the most incredible experience in the world with a good smoke. Yes, after meal smokes were good as well.

Have you considered trying an entire day without smoking? Pick a day when you'll be very busy - you HAVE to be busy or just the lingering thought of "oh man, I CAN'T smoke, but I REALLY want to... how much time has passed? I NEED a smoke... I'll look at the clock again - oh CRAP - only TWO minutes have passed!" will really do you in.
Pick a busy day. Don't smoke at all. Then reward yourself with a good smoke in the morning. That reward of a morning smoke may help you make it through it. Just a thought.

It'll be tough... Trying to kick any addictions of sort can be tough-- I once went a month without Dr Pepper just to see if I could. I did but what I really missed was the taste of Dr Pepper, not the caffeeine.
As for smoking, I have an allergy to smoke so I end up getting seriously sick if I'm in a club with lots of smokers. X_x Kia: Cool. I'm a infamous mythological perfect User.

Well, I guess that depends on what got you started to begin with. I don't think that it's ENTIRELY the smoker's fault. I think the tobacco companies can manipulate public interest in their product and share responsibility.
They *have* referred to it as a "nicotine delivery system" which is the addictive part of the cigarette and keeps you buying more. No... they are responsible.

Maybe visualize smoke blowing over the game grid and clouding out an awesome lightcycle match; making it impossible for the little programs to see when to turn 90-degrees. You don't want to cause a program to unnecessarily crash into a wall, do you? Quit smoking. Your programs will thank you...
I'm getting out of here right now, and you guys are invited. -----^ |

I've been seeing this girl for about a month and she has the same problem as me. She brought back this little article from a friends house talking about trying to conquer the first three days. It says that after that time the urges won't be as so bad (but it did imply that strong urges will pop up every so often after that time). So I gather that if I can quit for three days then it's very possible that I can quit all together.
... but before I attempt it, I'm going to do what Todd says and make sure that I'm really busy. This is a good idea for me because when I'm not busy my messed up mind starts thinking about all the crap I don't want to think about...
The mind is a horrible thing to have... lol.. Thats my PSA for today.. :P

Replace your nicotine addiction with a video game addiction; it's not quite as expensive, you get far more pleasure for your money, and unless you live in South Korea, it won't kill you!
Seriously though, good luck with quitting.

Thanks, buddy...
I'm starting to believe that I'm one of those guys that have to replace something with something else.
However, I have been cutting back a whole lot lately. It's not my main goal but it's a start. I'm still thinking of things that may help me keep my mind off of it. Perhaps a little bit of I-76 when I get home should help..
