Prepare your minds for a new scale of scinetific values gentlemen.- Dr. Morbius, Forbidden Planet
Yesterday I went to Best Buy and used a christmas gift card and got the 50th Anniversary edition FORBIDDEN PLANET DVD.
I got the DVD that comes packed in a huge collector tin that comes with lobby cards of Forbidden Planet and The Invisible Boy. There's an ad to buy your very own lifesized animatroic Robby. To top it off it the tin comes with a 3.5" detailed Robby figure AND a mail in pamplet for a 27"x40" reproduction of the original Forbidden Planet theatrical poster! *glee*
This dvd set is AMAZING!
It has some great video extras that talk about the film, Robby, and 1950's cinema (with interviews with George Lucas, James Cameron, Steven Speilberg, and other great names of Hollywood). Not to mention the dvd has some great trailers of other scifi films of the 50's era. The inclusion of the campy The Invisible Boy, staring Robby, is great. If you don't want to spend the cash on the tin edition, they have just the 2 disc dvd set out. I highly recoment this dvd!
I know I'm geeking out, but I love this film.

Just got through watching The Thin Man episode. That was neat having Robby in a murder mystery. They did a nice job presenting him as just a simple remote control device.
You got a favorite bit on the dvd set? Mine is the Robby the Robot: Engineering a Sci-Fi Icon segment.

So far, I've only seen the movie and the alternate takes & outtakes. But I'll probably be watching it again soon, so I'll have more to say about it.

*Sour face* On what? How to ruin a perfectly good set of films with crappy follow-ups and tinkering with something until you break it?
Anyway, Forbidden Planet is great. You can see Leslie Neilson in a non-silly role. Also, it's one of the theories behind what's going on in the TV show Lost.

Forbidden Planet ROCKS!
And Robbie the robot was been one of my favorite robots for a long time. He even made an appearance on Mork and Mindy once in 1979, if memory serves.
I've even got my own Robbie the Robot knock-off toy. Very vintage looking. In fact, I think I'll go wind him up now and bother the wife some. he he heabortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Robbie made an appearance in a Simpsons Episode I watched last night. He tries to kill Principal Skinner.

Sketch when I had seen the title. I was under the assumption of the altair computer that was built in teh early days with the switches and not Robby the robot. Bioy am I having a blond moment over here.

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.
