Alien Back Story

on Friday, December, 22, 2006 12:55 AM

My experience in the Alien universe is with “Alien” and “Aliens”. I have seen the two sequels (3&4), but IMHO, they sucked. However, I am interested in the back story to the first Alien movie. In that film the Nostromo is re-routed to LV-426 because the “company” knows that the Aliens are there and wants them for a Bio-Weapon… at the “expense of the crew”.

I am curious as to this back story. I cannot find any references on the net (even Wikipedia) about early expeditions to LV-426. I see some notes to an early script for Alien where LV-426 is actually the home planet for the Aliens, including a Pyramid with the eggs…but that was scrapped for a script with the eggs being on a derelict, wrecked spacecraft of unknown origin… which to me is MUCH more interesting.

I would like to know what the whole back story is…or where the source for it can be found. Anyone know where I can find this?

It looks like the novel Alien: Original Sin may attempt to answer some of these questions, but it looks like the book has not gotten very good reviews. Also, I am not interested in a continuing story from the fourth Alien movie. :Porder abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pillabortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Okay, I'm just doing this from memory . . . so I may be completely wrong.

But as I recall, Allan Dean Foster wrote the story for the first Alien movie and the script was based on it. Typically it's the other way around, but not in this case. I think.

Foster published his story as a novel. The novel differs from the movie in some respects, as you might have guessed. It goes into more detail. The script for the film is a condensed version of the story. (Though there were scenes deleted from the film, which I haven't seen yet. Like the cocoon scene. This is in the novel, I believe.)

So . . . if you can find a copy of the novel, maybe there are more backstory details in there.

There might also be a novelization of Aliens, but I'm not aware of it. I only know a novel exsits, based on the first film.

I just visted the Wikipedia entry for the film Alien, and I notice they make no mention of Allan Dean Foster at all.

Well, I know what I heard. There was a rumor that Foster had significant input into Alien, and wasn't credited for it. Which seems to be a repeating trend in his career. He also wasn't credited for his input into Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
