Yeah, I've often wondered myself if Kraftwerk were inspired by Tron, for the look of their videos and performances.

I mean, how much more Tron-like can you get, with a video like that one? There are even Light Cycles of a kind, appearing in the background at one point.

I've been a fan of Kraftwerk since the 70's and you'll find their style changes over the years to fit what's popular culture with regards to technology and computing.

If they’re true computer geeks as they seem to come across as, then of course they'd like, and be influenced by, Tron.

Of course, there are crap loads of bands out there that have been DIRECTLY influenced by Kraftwerk, the most notable being Depeche Mode.

I attended a rare U.S. concert date of Kraftwerk back in 2004 when they played at the Paramount theater in Seattle, WA. Their final encore for the show featured a blacklit TRON-ish performance, with them wearing suits with grids on them and the stage lighting up in a similar fashion.

As noted already, Kraftwerk predates TRON by a number of years, and it's probable they just go with what seems alternative fashion for the time. I can't say that there is overt TRON influence in their stage production or costuming, but it is possible.

Also, as noted before, Kraftwerk's influence on pop culture cannot be properly gauged, as virtually all modern synthpop bands, from the 80's to the current, owe an homage to Kraftwerk as being groundbreaking in the genre. Same goes for Vangelis, and (of course) Wendy Carlos, who, like Kraftwerk, were pioneering purely electronic music long before it reached the mainstream.

Coldplay *sour face* even took "Computer Love" and put words to it. Not that I really care for Coldplay all that much, but it is interesting to see Kraftwerk love pop up where you don't expect it.

I'll hear Kraftwerk samples in music from time to time, as well.

I remember, when Computer World hit in the early 80's, seeing kids break dancing to it. Hehhehe.
