Did you guys know that AMD has updated CPU drivers on their website? I only found out about them just last week.
Intel doesn't post updated drivers for their CPUs. Because I've only had experience with Intel CPUs up until my current PC, it was not my practice to check for updated CPU drivers regularly as I do for everything else.
The description of the updated driver states that it: "Allows the system to automatically adjust the CPU speed, voltage and power combination that match the instantaneous user performance need."
After installing the new driver, my FX-57 actually showed a performance improvement, most notably in the CellFactor: Combat Training tech demo. It's apparent that the new driver is much better at throttling the CPU than the old one that comes with XP.
If you have an Athlon of any flavor then I'd suggest you check AMD's site for a driver update. You might be in for a pleasant surprize!

Never really heard of that before with the exception for the AMD L62 and windows 95/98 first edition. Since there was a jam up of some sort for windows 95 that would freeze up. Is it just for the Duron and Athlon or better? Or is it across the board including the AMD K6-2 CPU as well on any OS that is avilable? Can you be more specific. Since I am running more than one OS at any given time over here. Like Windows 2000 pro, XP pro, and a variant of Ubuntu and Xubuntu over here.

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

It doesn't look like anthing before Duron has drivers. It also looks like they might have Linux drivers, but I'm not sure since I was only looking for Windoes XP drivers.

Its strictly windows based and nothing to do with the Linux/Unix environments at all. And its from a Duron CPU on upwards including mobile Processor. ANd here I thought that it was going to be good for all the earliers as well. Aw shuck. I might as well try and get the Duronup and running over here when I get a chance.

Thanks MutoidMan. I've never checked for CPU drivers before either. I was always Intel until the latest CPU I got a couple years back -- AMD Athlon XP 2400+. I'll checkit out and see if I need new drivers...

I couldn't find anything that worked for me. I went to the Athlon XP section and downloaded a couple things. I first tried the driver pack (where it auto-detects and installs what you need), but it said I didn't have the right components or something, so it didn't install anything. Strike 1. Then I tried to download the software that would allow it to auto-adjust depening on CPU needs, but it's not for WinXP and said I don't have the right operating system; so it didn't install. Strike 2.
I gave myself Strike 3 by giving up. So, I'm out.

I went back to look, and the only thing they had for the Athlon XP that looked like the driver I downloaded was listed as:
AMD Athlon™ XP Processor PowerNow! Software for Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows NT 4.0 & Windows 2000 Version (exe) 3.0.5 - AMD PowerNow! Technology allows the system to dynamically and automatically select CPU speed, Voltage and Power combination that match the instantaneous user performance need. These changes can happen as often as 30 times per second. |
You're right, it isn't for Windows XP. I guess Windows XP comes with the best drivers already.

So, you update your CPU drivers often?
I take it that your FX-62 is your newest Athlon, not your first, and that AMD releases new CPU drivers every few months?
I'm asking because being that I found out only a few weeks ago that AMD releases updated CPU drivers, I have no idea how often they update the CPU drivers.where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill onlineabortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Hmmm - I was unaware that AMD offered such things. In fact, I had no idea there were such things as CPU drivers - I thought that was hard-coded in to the mother board or part of the BIOS.
I have an AMD K7 1300MHz processor - yeah, that's pretty damn slow, but it's more than 5 years old. It was pretty slick in the spring of 2001 when I bought it.
I may need to check this out. This old and slowly dieing computer needs all the help it can get!
Thanks for the info, MutoidMan.
