Hello there Tron Fans. I'm new here and I'm hoping somone could shed some light on this subject.
The problem I'm getting is slugish performance in certain areas of the game, this only seems to happen when there are enemy's to kill. for example I'll walk into an area and then it will start to slow sow becomming really choppy and only when I've killed every enemy in the area will it return to it's normal FPS. I've delt with it for most of the game but it's beginning to really annoy me now and I'm at the 2nd seeker Boss which is going to be pretty much impossiable to kill with this problem and very unenjoyable.
oh and this problem doesn alway happen but it always goes away(when it happens) when I've killed all the enemy's
Here are my system requirements in advanced
CPU:AMD Athlon 64 FX-55(2.6Ghz)
MotherBoard: Asus A8V-Deluxe Chipset: Via K8T800 Pro
Ram:2GB (2x1GB DDR400)
GFX:ATI Radeon x800 XT 256 MB
Anymore infomation on request and Thanks in advance.

Hmm. Well, I can't really say I've ever heard of this problem before. At least, not with that kind of severity. I myself notice that, when enemies appear in the game, it "hitches" a little and slows down. But it's only for a short moment. It doesn't continue.
A few suggestions:
1) Go to the Start menu, click on Run, and type "dxdiag". Check to see if there are any problems with DirectX. In particular, click on the Display and Sound tabs and note if anything is disabled or set at reduced performance.
2) Do the same as in part one, except type "atiprbxx /g" instead. See if everything is turned on. Click the Basic AGP Settings button and see if AGP speed is set to 8X.
3) Download EndItAll2, and use it to shutdown every unnecessary program that's running. That includes your anti-virus and spyware programs too, you can always restart them later.
That's what I can suggest off the top of my head right now.

ok I had another look at "dxdiag" no problems there.
I also tried "atiprbxx /g" (yes without the quotes) but it says it cant find it. but I'll give that end it all app a try. I did try to close some programs with windows task manager but it didnt help.

Still no change but when I loaded my save game where I'm at the 2nd Seeker program you encounter it's all sluggish then after a minute or two it became normal again. I have tron set to load all data b4 the level loads turned on so it shouldn't be because it's reciving data from the HDD.
I've done Disk Defrags btw.

Was there any clean disk or a defragmentation of your hard drive recently that could be a caus eof it as well when the scene that you are mentioining that could be bogging down when it up to that point? It might be swapping to the hard drive there. Its hard to say. What are the specs of your machine? Maybe it should give us some light on the problem.

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

RageRiot, yeah . . . Precaching On should help avoid stuttering and hitching as new things load in the game. And defragging also helps a bit.
About the command not working. I guess it wasn't copied to your System32 directory for some reason. So try this instead:
Choose Run from the Start menu and type "cmd". When the command window pops up, copy and paste
"C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel\atiprbxx.exe" /g
into the window. With quotes and all. You can paste the text in the window by clicking the window icon in the top left corner, going to Edit, and then selecting Paste.

heh I followed that path and "\Ati Control Panel\" doesn't exist
I've got version 6.7 installed on the catalyst control centre and it seems to be working fine.

That file has to be somewhere on your hard drive . . . it's always part of the Catalyst drivers. And typing in that line gives you access to a hidden control panel that you normally can't access.
It has to be in the System32 directory, then. Though why it didn't load before, I don't know. This has got to work . . .
"C:\Windows\System32\atiprbxx.exe" /g
You are using Windows XP, correct?

Yuck, I hate the Catalyst control center. Bloated .NET junk. I use the Omega ATI drivers instead, which go back to the old, simple control panel.

and as for the ATI CCC I dont like it either but I dont like using unofficial sofware when it comes to drivers. personal preference. plus I never found the omega drivers any better.abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

Did you include system and hidden folders when you did the search? Because otherwise, you've got me stumped. It should be there. Even in custom drivers done by ATI for Dell and other manufacturers.
That hidden control panel would tell you if your AGP GART driver was working 100%. It's possible there might be a problem with the settings that causes the slowdown.
BTW, you didn't mention if you're using XP?
Other than that . . . right now I don't have any ideas that immediately come to mind, as to why you're having this problem.

the answer yes.

and yes I included hidden files and folders in my search.
maybe I should update to 6.8 but complelty wipe the current drivers. I think I'll try that now.

Well, I guess ATI recently decided to remove that from the latest versions of their drivers and added it to the control center instead. I looked it up online. (I've never used the new control center. Like I said, I don't like it. )
So now that I know that . . . is Fast Writes turned on? Usually it's better that it's turned off.
Also, you might want to try going into your BIOS and adjusting the AGP aperture size. Try increasing it one step above where it's set now.
I get the feeling this is somehow video related, but I honestly don't know for sure.
As for adjusting how much memory the game can use . . . not really. The Precache setting is pretty much your only option for that.

fast writes off (I turned it off hopeing it would help the other day)
AGP apature size: 128 I dont see how this can cause problems and from reviews on online it says 128 is usally the best option.
just so you know I see my self as an advance computer user so u can go all technical if you want
and on the panel that loads b4 the acctual game when u go to options there is a box for command line arguments.
I'd be interested in a list of commands
I remember when I got the tron 2.0 Demo won a PC gamer DVD and nowt he game has been out for quie a while there doesnt sem to be many sites related to the game. only decent site I could find is this one and the disney site is useless in my eyes.abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

Well that's true, but sometimes it can help with certain games. Setting it too low in a game that uses a lot of textures can cause "texture thrashing".

You can load the file launchcmds.txt in the Tron 2.0 directory into a text editor and look at the options in there . . . some of those options are the same things you would type in that box. But I don't think any of it will help.
One more stab in the dark. Turn off sound completely under the Options section in the game launcher. See if the slowdown disappears when there's no sound.

Got that right.
They've pretty much abandoned the game, sadly.
