Yes, I have the book and am reading it at the moment. It's a little on the dry side but it has a lot of information about how CGI got to the state it's in now. To be fair there isn't much on TRON so it's not worth buying purely if you want to read about that. Also there's a lot on computer-based offline editing which I had to skip through in the end.
It's mainly text but there are b&w pictures throughout of industry personnel and screen captures of CG projects and various machinery.
If you're interested in the history of CGI it's definitely worth a look.
I've just bought Oblagon by Syd Mead (one of the concept artists on TRON) from someone on ebay and am waiting for that to turn up. I'm hoping that will be mainly colour images and have TRON stuff aswell as designs for Bladerunner, 2010, etc
