I finally got the music.rez file extracted into a million little .wav files. For those that constructed their own soundtrack, what did you do? Did you stitch together like named files in numeric sequence? The snippets seem to have periods of silence at the end (but it may have just been soft music, as my office was a bit noisy with the CPU fans and such...).

Any tips on stringing these bits together to get something that sounds decent?

Sadly, I am one of the few who spent his entire Febuary vacation two years ago "stitching" the music wavs together.

I just used a music editing program called Cool Edit Pro Version 2, but I'm sure that redrain has an easier way of building those files. Still, the resulting files that I constructed sounded great.

I'd like to make a suggestion to you guys, something that would possibly put together a tron 2.0 sound track for everyone, rather than everyone repeating this task over and over again. One person's work can pay off for all. Here's the idea:

Take all of a song's fragments and import them into a digital audio / music program. Something like Pro Tools, logic, sonar, cubase... something. Figure out the exact tempo the song is played at (i forget if that information is in the filenames at all or anything, or even somewhere else with the game files). If there's no info telling you the tempo, your software might be able to detect the tempo, or you'll just have to play with it or do some math). Anyway, once you know the tempo of the song, you can move the file clips around arranging the song in an order that works well.

now you could mix to two tracks and have your own sound track, but the point here is you're going to help everyone else. so the real reason why you put the songs together is to get the timing infomation of what wave file plays when. now you download and learn Csound (a quick google is sure to find it) which is a freely available software synthesizer. (I haven't used it in years, but it's really cool if you're into that stuff) Don't worry, you don't need to learn the whole program, you just need to learn to make it play wav files and use your timing information. when your satisfied with the results, you'll have your data files you used to build each song... these data files will have the timing information and references to the wav files, but not the actual wav files themselves. So from there, you can share your csound data files with out sharing the audio files, and anyone who owns the game could download csound and build these songs too using your data files, with out nearly as much effort as you exerted in doing it all. (It'd be nice if you put it all in a batch file or something to, to make it even easier)

is this too far out there? It'll work, even if you don't believe me...

These are kinda just general directions obviously, but someone who's a little technically and musically inclined should be able to pull this off If they don't make sense, it's because it's late... I'd do it myself, but I'm busy enough as it is
