Well, I can easily see people becoming confused between Carl and Karl. At least with Dave and Dave, there's no way to get confused.
For me, it bugs me a little when people call me Rob . . . but not really a big deal, and I always make sure to correct them.  I realize it's easy to read my name quickly and assume it's the more common Rob instead of Rod.
I just feel sorry for poor Todd . . . a lot of people seem to like calling him Tood. Cursed typos!

Ubless you get two goofy C(K)arls in the same room who know how to play it to the hilt and really confuse soeone about it. Then your totally lost. Did that with two other Carl's before that were spelt with the C and man did we confuse the human resources like crazy.

Tell me about it. My freshman year in college my roommate in the dorms was named Carl too. Everytime the phone rang the first question you'd hear was "Is Carl there?". The responce was ALWAYS "Which one?". Trust me that got old VERY fast.
Then while I was at TI there was another worker at the same site (different building) named Karl Hoft. I never meet him but I got calls and pages ment for him all the time. Even the key card that I was given to the parking lot had his name on it with my employee number. Payroll was apparently able to keep us strait though as I never got his pay checks.
