Friday a massive storm rolled through town. It was awsome! I opened the blinds and enjoyed the show as I drew at my desk. Thunder rumbled the streets and set off every house and car alarm on the street. Sounded like the world was coming to an end.

Well, it depends on the local. ;-)
It gets "better" in Central Florida than what Timothy let on... no thunderstorms in June here would be a cause for alarm!
As for August. fergeddaboutit!

I've noticed that as of late, we're getting thunderstorms at NIGHT in Kansas.
It's pretty annoying to boot because I have four nervous dogs in my room at once. (The other two are deaf, go figure.)

I've been in Ft. Collins, CO with my son for the past three days and they got some awesome storms the past two nights.
Lightning hitting the ground. Huge thunder claps. Better than anything we get in LA!

Yeah... I really love storms too....
The June thingy is a little strange for around here. We get hit the hardest in spring but by June, we only get light showers.... well... we did until now...
Come to think of it, the huge tornado of 1982 (for here) was in late May... came out of nowhere... I think it was an F4 or F5... It was huge... Ripped through this town... The strange thing about it was that it was a clear day. No storms or anything. I live in one of the weirdest places on earth... lol...

I like watching thunderstorms, but I hate them at the same time.
Here's a site regarding lightning safety. You might think I just looked it up today. But nope, I'm slightly paranoid regarding severe weather and found it a couple years ago:
http://www.lightningsafety.noaa.gov/. Be sure to read the Lightning Safety page.
Qix has seemed to bring the protector out in me today. I should apply at the forest service to become Smokey Bear:
I'm getting out of here right now, and you guys are invited. -----^ |

I'm choosing to be the new person that doesn't know anybody and who everybody ignores for a set period of time. (I love forums with all my heart. )
Anyway. I when it rains because it gives me a good excuse to chug coffee. It's easy to do so in the winter, or fall, or even spring. (I live in Minnesota. It's cold 90% of the year.) But in the summer, with the sun shining and the mosquitos eating my face, it just doesn't seem right.
UnLESS there's a storm. Or rain.

Welcome to the Sector, Saving Session... Really glad to meet you.
That is so very true about summer storms or showers. I really like a nice shower in the Summer on a very hot day because it's really nice to have the tempture drop about 5-10 degrees F...
I love Fall showers and I really love thunder storms in the spring.
But... Fall is my all fav. time of the year. Brings back good memories of throwing on my Jean Jacket, loading up the truck with quilts, cotton throws, pillows, some beer and a guitar... heading out into the woods with some friends and a girl friend I can latch on too... gathered around the fire.... The best time ever.... I didn't get the chance to do that last year... but I'm not going to miss it this year.... I love the fall... |

Thats really cool. I use to live in Huston back in 1980 (well.. I was a weee lad back then) but we had some of the coolest storms there.
I always loved Texas and the rest of the South. Very beautiful country. I almost moved to Mississippi a few years ago but that was before the great Qix bankruptcy of 2003.
