My two year contract with Cingular is expiring. I've had nothing but terrible service (bad reception, phones losing signal constantly) with them for years now and am looking at other companies.The main contender right now is Sprint. Mainly because they have a Light Cycle game (right?). Anyway, does anyone out there get very clear and reliable service? If so, with who?where to buy abortion pill http://blog.bitimpulse.com/template/default.aspx?abortion-types buy abortion pill online

If you want good reception and the widest coverage available in North America, Verizon Wireless is the way to go.
They are by far, the best service provider for wireless phones, or as I like to call them communicators.
The down side? They're the best and they know it. You'll pay through the nose for everything above and beyond simple phone use. Want games? You'll pay for them all. Want mobile web? You pay extra for that too (I actually use a very simple version of that myself - to check my e-mail). Want to send pix? You get to pay a quarter per picture, or pay extra for a monthly allowance of "pix messaging". Want V-Cast? That one is quite a bit more.
But it comes down to how much you can afford and what you want out of your communicator. If communication (regular phone communication) is the prime factor, go with Verizon. If you can afford all the extra goodies - they're really cool. But if you mainly want games and loads of included stuff with your regular monthly package, Verizon is not the way to go. They don't give you much when it comes to "included" features. Just phone and voice mail service.
My plan is up this July. I will be sticking with Verizon ONLY because they do have the best coverage. I think they're down right stingy with the rest.

I have good receptoin with Virgin Mobile over here. But it is a pay as you go type of service. Never had a problem with it so far since I got it before christmas. And they are using MA Bell towers up here in Canada.

I'd say decent with t-mobile but that's because they're the only place where I can get 'pagers'... and I need to replace my sidekick due to the fact that the screen shattered from my sister's big dog crashing into me. X(
The cell phone tower in my area (Tmobile's) seems to be very bizzare. Sometimes it won't work because birds use it as a bathroom. (GO FIGURE)

I get excellent service from US Cellular, but I don't think there's one near you.

I'm not too sure about you guys in America, but I do know that Rogers is pretty good. That's what I have with my current (And only) phone. I have yet to have any problems with it.

I just dumped Nextel for Cingular. So far the service has been good; I haven't had a single dropped call unlike with Nextel.
I might have gone with Verizon (even though I get a nice employee discount with AT&T/Cingular) if their customized phone UI that they replaced Motorola's with wasn't such a pain to use. You can't even personalize the home keys with the Verizon UI.

Yeah - that's another problem with Verizon. They take perfectly good and feature packed programming for most of their phones, throw it away, and then replace it with their own programming. In doing so, some of the features are now gone, some of the ease of use options are now more complicated and annoying to use, and the words "Verizon Wireless" are ALWAYS present on the screen. At least they are on mine. Like I need to know... because it's written on the phone itself and on the phone casing it is in... and on my belt clip, etc.
Love their coverage and I have very few dropped calls (usually only when in a building most communicators don't get any reception in) but I hate their awful reprogramming of phones and lack of part of the service options. Their options are always extra. I can't wait for someone to give them some serious competition and drive their prices down and their included feature list up!
Methinks that may be a while though.

You should see me when on the rare ocassion when I speak with my cell carrier. They are almost frighten to answer me over here. Like when they see my number from cell its like I go thrugh to level three tech and just stay there instead of the babbling newb's they have there for cell. You know sometimes when you get these little surveys too by email. Its like that too with Virgin too. When ever I am on the phone I still bug them on the phone about the data cable where you can hook the phone to the ccmputer. And transfer stuff too and from it. With my clumbsy hands its like almost smashing the numeric keypad to get still not used to the light weight of the clam phones there.
For me on my next cell that I will eventually upgrade to will have to have a data cable with it. no doubt about that. quicker entries when I need to put my phone numbers in. And maybe a feww other things. I wanted to get a telus phone over here. something similar to like what I have now. A pay as you go plan. And when I had gotten that the irst time around and had problems activating it. ANd getting the run around with the guy say that there was no data cable that was suppose to come with it. I showed them the cd that came with that model. and the pdf file and drivers for it. Explaind to him when I had shown it on one of the computers there. to explain me the meaning of it. and showed him where it was and at what page. Its like horror to both best buy and to telus.

Just to throw in my .02 cents. I live in Canada, so I can't advise on a carrier. But I can give some other advice.
The carriers and the number of cell towers and coverage they have, is only half of the equation. The other half, is the phone itself.
Different phones have different reputations for reception clarity and reliability. For example, I just recently got myself a Motorola V710 phone from Telus Mobility as part of a promotion. I ended up getting the phone for free, after signing a 3 year contract. Verizon offers this same phone, I believe.
It's not a cheap phone if you have to buy it, but it has an excellent reputation for clear reception and not dropping the signal. And I agree . . . I've been using the phone for months, and not one dropped call.
There are reviews of this particular phone, here:
V710 Reviews
So what I'm saying is: take a look at not only the packages and coverage, but check reviews of the phones themselves. Some are better than others.

Just to throw something different in the mix, have you looked at Qwest? I've had my service with them almost a year now, and haven't had any dropped calls... And I'm using their entry-level $30 phone...
* Added bonus - They can tack it all on one bill if you have your home phone through them... I think Verizon can do this too, but from what others have said, they probably charge extra for that convenience... @KiaPurity
That sounds like an alarmingly big dog.
@Chikan
Qwest? That's one I think is available to me that I had not looked into. I'll check it out.
@redrain85
Good point about the device itself. I tend to be... well... cheap. For lack of a less honest word. I hate spending money with a passion unmatched by any other earthly emotion. But you do get what you pay for, don't you? I'll look heavily into phone reviews first.
@TheReelTodd
Communicators is a preferred term for me as well. That's why I prefer having a flip phone . And I'm leaning in the direction of Verizon, barring a bit more checking. Sprint has some very tempting aspects... Gah! The decision making process is to much.

Ditto! I can travel just about anywhere in the South and still get a signal. Admittedly I don't use any of the bells and whistles on my phone so I could care less about the custom programming issue.
