i think i have a 2600 proto and i need to check if it has a eprom!
BUT........
i don't konw how to open PB Carts!
(i already removed the front screw)
i know it might be a proto becvause of the hand written lable and the cart seems to never of had a lable

I'm not sure how to open the carts - never tried it personally.
What you have is most likely not a prototype though. The original prototypes of games were never cased in the outer plastic shell. They were just a ROM chip on a small board attached to the connectors - basically what you find inside the cartridges.
If you have one that has a handwritten label, it is most likely because of the original label wearing off, or being peeled off and replaced with a handwritten sticker or similar.

um, I have never seen one, but I would guess the parts may slide apart, or have internal clips of an arrangement which may require pinching edges, or a good pull may open it. But, since it has a screw, I wouldnt worry about the internal clips..

I have a vague memory from being a kid where comic book places would sell just the chips... and you'd have to slide them in using a pliers. I think they were bootlegs or something. Maybe I am just making this up, anyone else remember that?
