First of all, do not knock "direct to video" films. Believe me, I've seen quite a few that had originally meant for big screen, but were not released as big screen features, as well as some that are straight-to-video made but are of excellent quality. It's only the Disney "direct to video" stuff that isn't really great.

Also, I think the whole thing with the domain name is an issue that I have read about over and over again online. Basically, I think Disney purchased the domain so that someone else did not buy it and set up a website in order to make money of it. I've read of similar situations, including Microsoft purchasing the domain of "MikeRowSoft.com" from a guy named Mike Row (who purchased the website and set up his personal website. I don't think this means anything. Disney is very anal about it's properties. We're talking about the company who files 'cease and decist' orders against kindergarten schools when the kids paint pictures of Mickey on the wall of their classroom.

This goes into another thing I can't stand. The fact that Disney will more than likely just keep Tron in the archive until the end of human history. But they still would sooner die than sell it to someone else, simply because they don't want anyone demonstrating that he/she can better develop it than Disney can.

On the other hand, following their current "cheapquel" pattern, they have to come across Tron sooner or later and release a $20 budget rehashing in theaters, after they've exhausted the options of doing updated versions of "Merlin Jones" and "Snowball Express", and remaking all the Ernest films by replacing Jim Varney with Carrot Top.
