the reason i think its a good idea is it is a way for the admins to talk about the site mechanics and also do stuff like:
in a extreme case of rudeness (aka:the first calvinspiff) the admins can vote on banning, also admins can talk about site isssues and downloads to be added to the archieves.

I'm mod for my professor boiard as well for computer programming. I take care at east three message areas. It does have some advantages at times.
