Vent

Ugh...

Semester is grinding closer to an end. Workload is heavy getting these last final projects done/ Just burnt on assignments. I need a break. Going to work overtime to get a silkscreen print final done, which I got greenlighted today by the teacher, along with a lengthy talk from her about my image and all the stuff that she had problems with it, which I guess is the whole piece. Right now I just don't give a flying gridbug if she has problems with this image. Just hate how your left confused and hating your work after her two cents is given. I have one singular idea that I'm making into an image cause it's the only one I have settled on, look forward to doing, care about, and will have fun doing. So much time is spent thinking up an idea that she will hopefuly greenlight, when we need using most of that time to be experimenting and learning the medium. I could care less about meaning in the work right now, let's learn the medium now in the short amount of time we have.

Also I'm still erked and somewhat depressed that I really don't know what the future holds for me. In my classes I see that I am more an illustrator, at least that's what people in class, as well as faculty tell me. Many of my ideas and doodles are illustrations I guess, which the silkscreen teacher wants to be more like fine arts imagery, heh. At times I question my art and what I draw, wondering where it will take me. I love drawing ideas, concepts, and such. Many of the ideas that have walked along my side for years I look upon now wondering if that might take me somewhere. Still, I question what it is I really want to do. Just getting tired of saying "I don't know," or "Not sure." It eats away at me.

Sorry, just a confused and burnt student blowing steam. Just wanted to get that off my chest.

My circuits are fired, my optic sensors weigh heavy, and my battery needs recharing. I'm off to get some rest.

End Of Rant.

I know the feeling. I've been there.

Just stick with what you want to do. Don't let them tell what you should be doing. (That just burns me because I mean, oh come on! Telling people that makes me angry when they did that to me.)

So, yeah, hang on in there, Sketch!abortion pills online abortion questions cytotec abortion

Okay, probably said the story at least once I think, but I'll say it anyways:

I once had this art teacher who thought Human Xeroxes who copied realistic pictures were the only form of "fine art" and that unless you were on the vollyball team he was coaching, you couldn't really get away with other artforms if you really wanted to. I was neither. He always had a problem with whatever it was I was working on. It felt like an artistic prison! But even during and afterwards, I still loved drawing. I still loved being an artist and he couldn't take that away from me. I guess I still keep drawing my stuff and drawing just about what ever I felt like just to defy him and probably still do eventhough he's not here. And I do know that yeah, it's difficult living as a fine artist. Few people can do that. But there are industries where art skills are indeed valued and that's where I plan to go. So there is indeed a future to art! You just have to be cleaver with it.

on the subject of creative prisons:

my old engineering teacher.

when he was teaching in my old school, we were set a task to build a remote controlled land yacht. my friend and i, who were working as a pair. had spent hours on loads of different possible designs, only for said teacher to say "no, you can't do that, you have to follow this design instead" so about 3 hours of design work went down the drain. it was supposed to be a design and technology GCSE, but it seemed like it was just technology. full stop.

what really get's me miffed is that he's now one of my college teachers, and he's doing it all over again with our remote controlled buggy.

Norman Rockwell was labeled an "illustrator", yet his artwork now resides in fine art museums and tours the country.

Don't let opinions or labels get you down.

I think M.C Escher was called an "illustrator" too and his works are well.... everywhere!

You know, when you have the label artist, you will have clients who decide to pick your ever loving brain... so these people are just expecting your language to be up to par.. maybe you'll be a better teacher from doing what you like, but they just want all of your interests to reflect who they are. I really like your work. So learn em, and leave em.abortion pills online abortion pill online purchase cytotec abortion

Yeah, Norman Rockwell rocks. I love his works. Silkscreen teacher doesn't care much for him. Sucks to be her, for she's missing out on a master of narrative illustration that defined an era. Learned today from my theater appreciation teacher that they use Rockwell's work to teach people how to act.

In this class I've noticed more the divide between Ilustration and Fine Art, mainly how Fine Art can't get along with Illustration. I think it sucks. Things get so nitpicky.

I'm just venting. I don't mean to sound like I'm letting it get me down. I'm just ready for the assignments to end, and also burned on how the teacher guns ideas down. I've let this silkscreen class be my outlet among my other classes. I need a creative outlet for my sanity sake, heh. All my prints have been robots, which I think the teacher doesn't like all that much. She doesn't like science fiction, which guns me down in a way. I don't care though, I enjoy creating these bots. It's my thing right now, plus I don't see anyone else using robots in their artwork. It makes me different from the others, heh. My fellow class mates have told me that my Illustration style has really shown through in class. I'm still trying to figure out what that style is. Looking forward to getting this final print project done. We've got to print enough images so that each student can have an image to remember you by. Everyone is excited to get an image from me.

Yeah! You should still keep it up! Teachers like that hate it, but it doesn't really matter unless you just like getting under their skin like that because it's also fun in the right contexts. (Okay.... I'll admit to doing that with my art teacher. I enjoyed what I did and sorta liked getting under his skin. Although, he hated me more for that. Oh well! At least I had fun and now have a neat "underdog" story I can tell.) If she wants a "xerox," then get a xerox machine! They don't need breaks, they don't complain about artistic liberties/creativity, and will give her a predictable outcome everytime.

Well, I feel good right now. Yesterday I applied 4 out of 5 color layers to my pints for my silkscreen final. Used a new screen for the first time, and it made working faster, easier, and alot more fun, being able to have much better control over the prints. Learned some things the used school silkscreen wouldn't allow, since it was falling apart. Now I think I can get my other projects done. The Silkscreen project is what really worried me, since the last one took me so long. Started work at 11:00am in the morning, and didn't get home till 1:30 am. I could have stayed to apply the last layer of color, but I didn't want to screw up my sleepcycles. Looking forward to getting this print final done, along with everything else that needs completing.

Later on I'm going to try and roll out some silkscreen prints to sell. I really need to produce some art to sell. Silkscreen offers a good output.
