I'd like to send a letter to Disney HQ about the current state of the TRON universe, and why we should see another movie, game, expansion pack, hell even a novel would be nice to see.
I realize there is a petition online that's going to BVG. And that's nice, but BVG has told us that they don't care, already, by taking the site down. I am in the process of writing a detailed letter to the President of Disney, and I hope I'll get through to him. When it is finished I'd like all... ALL... of the Tron, Tron 2.0, and Tron 2.0: Killer Ap community to please sign the letter, so I can have at least a few hundred signatures on there.
Thanks for your help, Programs, and Users, alike. I hope to have this letter finished in a few days. I'll post a link here when it's done.
I am having withdrawal from great Sci-Fi stories. Star Trek is "taking a break", Star Wars has had it's last movie, and now Tron's website is dead, so I hope I get a nice warm reception from this community. Thank you, TS.

Greetings, PrinceAuron, and welcome to TRON-Sector!

Only BVG's TRON website is dead. BVG seems to be kind of an odd company, or at least under questionable management. They made TRON 2.0, didn't promote it very well, and wondered why it tanked. Of course, the nutshell answer is they think it tanked because no one cared for it. Blah, blah, blah - old news. So they've abandon TRON, as has Disney.
The GOOD news is that WE here at TRON-Sector have NOT abondon TRON!
In fact, we all LOVE TRON!
So BVG's TRON 2.0 site may be dead, but we're alive with activity here. A bunch of us regularly share in our love of TRON and other interests here. And many more still just browse The Sector as non-members. This site does indeed see a LOT of activity.
A couple of threads you may want to hit are:
What's with your name?
And...
Don't forget to PING in every time you have yourself Another dose of TRON
I think you'll enjoy your time here at The Sector

PrinceAuron,
I think you will find people willing to get involved and sign your letter.
I can certainly help you to target the right internal Disney people. I used to work at BVG, I know who to hit.
I'm with you on this.

let us know, and how do you exactly plan to harvest signatures?
Also, I would like to have a peek at your draft. Could you post it somehow?

I will post a draft either this weekend or sometime thereafter. I'm a full time student so I have papers to write ya know
Anyway I was thinking of using the same petition website that the TRON 2.0 Unofficial FAQ guy used (sorry dont' know names yet)
Anyway thanks for welcoming me to TRON-Sector, very glad to be here!
Also, and this is a bit offtopic, but I am attempting to write a TRON Short story. I will post it somewhere on the forums when I have a nice first page to use.
Bye for now, Programs and Users alike.

Can there ever be too many Tron petitions?
Actually, I know... it can be somewhat diluting and cannabalistic in that it may mean fewer entries on other petitions. As well, they may see repeat entries across multiple petitions and be like, "WTF? It's the same 50 Tron freaks!"
I'm getting out of here right now, and you guys are invited. -----^ |

That's exactly what I was going to say.
There are already two petitions . . . one that DaveTRON started regarding the Tron movie sequel, and the one I started for Tron 2.0. Now there's going to be a third?
Too many petitions will undermine all of them. Their legitimacy will come into question, if it's the same people signing over and over again. Particularly if this new letter/petition is going to be hosted on the same site as the one I chose.
My plan was to send hard copies of my petition (when I'd reached 1,000 signatures) accompanied by a letter, to people in both BVG and Disney. (So BVG can't just toss it in the garbage and pretend it doesn't exist.) The letter would include a link the petition online, so they could monitor its progress after that, if they chose to.
Yes, the petition focuses on the game. But if there is demand for more from the game, then obviously those people who signed it would likely be interested in other Tron products too. We have to show Disney that people want to buy Tron products. We need to appeal to their wallets, more than their conscience.

My petition has been dead for months, and it never went past this site due to such low volume of response.
Yours certainly stands the best chances due to volume, but it's mostly aimed at the gaming issue.
Perhaps you two could join forces in some way rather than turning this into a pissing match?

Yes, I was going to suggest that.
When it came time to send in hard copies, I was hoping that perhaps everyone would get involved in writing the letter that accompanied them. I didn't want to do it just by myself. PrinceAuron's writings could be that letter.
What do you say, PrinceAuron?
If he doesn't agree, that's fine. I'll even sign his petition. But I think there's a certain logic to what I've already said, don't you?

Grand idea. Actually I was thinking something on top of all this. How about, with your petition's link, we all send in letters! All 500 or so signatures on your petition could write letters to Disney and Buena Vista. THAT way they would have a large volume of letters all pertaining to TRON
I don't know if it's a perfect idea, what do you peoples think?

I don't believe it would be possible to get all of the people who signed, to send letters. But, I think you have an excellent idea Napseeker.
If at least some people would send in letters (whether they signed or not) at the same time hard copies of the petition are sent . . . together they would have even more impact, than if they were sent separately. And the letters wouldn't have to be about the game, they could be about anything relating to Tron. The movie sequel, comics, novels, animated series . . . anything that people would look forward to purchasing.
They could either all be sent by everyone simultaneously to Disney, or they could be sent to one individual who would then send them all together as a package.
I was also thinking, that when I do hard copies . . . I'd like to make them look as professional as possible. And one idea I had, was to ask Sketch if perhaps he'd be interested in doing a cover for them? Some of his wonderful artwork, to adorn them? That would be so awesome . . .
Anyway, these are all just suggestions. But as many people collaborating together in one effort, would work best. Rather than everyone going off and doing their own thing. Just my humble opinion.

I was thinking (again hehe) Maybe we should ask BVG to release the Source code? I know people who would love to get there hands on Source Code for most games, just because it would allow to make new stories, and such.
Just adding that to a list of things I'd like to see if Disney actually cares about us TRON fans

I'm wrong, I don't see source code in there. Redrain, I think that needs to be added!

Actually, I do mention the source code in the petition statement itself. Here's the direct link to the petition . . .
http://www.petitiononline.com/tron20/petition.html
It's in the third request.
Odd that the site changed your name when you posted, PrinceAuron. I guess the Grid Bugs are still finding their way into the site code.
