Hocus Pocus

on Monday, September, 05, 2005 7:36 PM
Sketch clued me in to this TRON reference a few months ago and I have been very slow to track it down. Today my kids were going to the video store, so I asked them to rent the movie Hocus Pocus by Disney.

Sure enough, there he is in the crowd sequence, a guy in a TRON outfit.

I need to do the frame captures on my laptop later this evening, but I will post them tonight. Another TRON reference proven! Good catch Sketch!order abortion pill http://unclejohnsprojects.com/template/default.aspx?morning-after-pill-price where to buy abortion pill

Is it a Haloween Costume? If I remember that movie correctly it takes place during Halloween.

Now, does the Wilhelm show up anywhere in the film?

Wow - cool find!

I've seen the film before... some time ago. I don't remember anyone in a TRON costume off the top of my head.

I remember seeing some film a while back, it was just showing on TV one lazy afternoon, and there was a party scene where people were dressed up in different costumes... I remember seeing a guy in a TRON helmet kind of in the middle of the crowded room. I think it was some kind of frat party in the movie or something. I couldn’t believe that the TRON helmets were just available to anyone making a film like that. Was cool to see a TRON helmet in the crowd though. I bet not another soul watching the film picked up on that - only because most people are like "huh? What's a TRON?"

Looking forward to the Hocus Pocus TRON guy image!

Yes. If memory serves, it is during the truck chase - when a Nazi soldier falls from the rear left side of the truck, ripping the canvas as he falls. The distinct scream is heard.

Wait a minute... that was Raiders of the Lost Ark

OK, let's see if you can spot someone familiar in the crowd...

Anybody here?

How about here?

This one is a little more obvious...

I know you can see him now!

So there it is. Three scenes in the movie Hocus Pocus that feature a guy dressed in a real live TRON costume getting his groove on.

Another TRON reference confirmed!

Carl! Stop being funny!

Four shots from three scenes, that's all you get!

Atleast I was being funny... something I usually fail at.

Anyways its too bad they didn't go back and do the post processing needing to light up his costume. I'm curious, is that an original costume? It looks very accurate if not.

Yep, it's the real deal. The costumer probably did what I did one Christmas. Walked the building and went 'One of those, one of those, one of those'. The costume building at Disney is a pretty cool place if you know your Disney lore.

Exactly. That's why I love places like that.

When I worked Security at Warner Brothers back in the late 80's, the initiation for new guards was to go to the Property Building where they store anything that might be a loose item on the set. It's a 3 story building with a basement. We'd tell the new guy to do the first floor and the basement, and give him a pattern to follow. We'd say we were doing 2 and 3 and would meet him back on 1 when he finished.

We weren't allowed to turn on the lights, so we went through with flashlights.

Well, the bottom floor at the far end of the building was where they stored the caskets. Several guys would already be down there and positioned, and after the new guy went to do his rounds, we'd run to the other end and get down in the caskets.

It's nerve wracking enough to walk a creaky old building full of old props with just a lfashlight. Imagine getting to the last area and finding caskets, and then when you least expect it, they fly open and people jump out at you!

Let's just say one guy peed his pants, another puked, and and many others ran screaming back down the hall. It never failed. When they did it to me there was a wee bit o'damp in me shorts, and I hit the guy closest to me with my flashlight. He got a lump.

Gawd, I miss those days!

LOL!!! That's funny. We only tortured people by telling them to mop the freezer.
