In light cycle grids, when a game bot is derezzed, sometimes you will hear "AHHHH!" Could this be an intentional insertion of the classic sound effect known as "the Wilhelm", or just coincidence?

I have no idea if the insertion is intentional or not, though.. can't even say if it's really that one. Usually during lighcycles matches I'm too busy trying not to die to take notice

I actually knew there was something to that scream; just didn't know it was so pervasive in the movie industry!! That's amazing. I wonder if the guy ever got royalties for every time it was used.
Even though I said in an earlier post that I don't think Tron 2.0's version is an exact match to it, I remember thinking a couple weeks back that the Tron 2.0 'aiiiigh' did sound reminiscent to the scream used for Storm Troopers falling off ledges in the Nintendo 64 game, "Shadows of the Empire". (I really enjoyed that game, by the way.)
I did know something was up when I had also noticed it in the Phantom Menace; and I think I maybe noticed it in the other SW movies. But I thought it was just a Star Wars thing. I never knew it was so widespread to other movies! That's crazy!!

I never knew that. I didn't hear it in the game over here. I'll have to listen into it when I play it over here. And I'll have to download the file when I get home. Should be interesting to see the video.

I knew I had heard that same scream in a few movies, but I didn't know it had such a history and a following.

I found the Wilhelm in Hellboy.
It's at the beginning in the WWII scene where the Rift is opened up. A soldier gets sucked into it and disintegrates. As his flesh is burned away he belts out a Wilhelm.
I also found it in the Lord Of The Rings, The Two Towers:
When the Helms Deep battle starts, the orcs bring up their ladders. It cuts to a scene of an elf fighting, then Aragorn, then cuts to someone being thrown from the battlements. As he goes over... Wilhelm.

I found the Wilhelm in Sin City.
It's in the part where Marv tosses the cop out of the cop car. You'll hear it when the cop goes flying out of the car.
