Well, I look at Lisberger, and I look at Lucas . . .
Two different situations with questionable concepts in their pre-alpha stages. Lucas made his dream really take off and pretty much gave 20th Century Fox "the bird", leaving them behind wishing they hadn't given him so much grief.
When Tron 2.0 came out, I just couldn't believe it! Before it's release, I told myself "I got to have that game." When I installed it, then watched the opening cutscene, my jaw just dropped. It was more than I could ever ask for. It surpassed my expectations for a game because:
1) It is clean.
2) It has a great story with unexpected twists
3) It is exciting
4) The AI is great, probably one of the better AIs I have interacted with.
5) I love the humorous one-liners like "Maybe we should have converted him first?" or "'I am a user!' 'Blasphemy!'"
6) Hidden references to the original movie.
7) Possible references to a sequel? (Don't get me started with the politics, but there were references in there at the end)
8) The gameplay has a lot of variety.
9) I like the "realism" of the mortality level of shots you can make (i.e.-the closer to the head, the more critical the wound; a head-shot is a single-shot kill)
10) the character skins were more realistic than most games I play.
11) the attention to detail is great.
12)the visuals and aural environments are rather soothing to the eyes and ears, so one could say playing the game is rather . . . therapeutic?
I just think the developers put a lot into the game, and more than anyone would expect. It is sad from their perspective, because the amount of work was so detailed, you can see how much was put into it.

*sigh*what more can I say? This is just an all-around great game that I don't think received the attention it deserved. I think it would be a great thing if, by some way, expansions could be made, new single-player levels could be developed, more challenges and contests for users to develop new maps, skins, characters, light-cycles, you name it. What would be VERY cool, is if in some hopeful future, when the Tron movie sequel is made and released, a massively multiplayer online game is developed and released. THAT would be great.
