Another unqualified success for Marvel!
I really enjoyed it and I eagerly await a sequel.
This is easily better than Batman Begins IMO.

I've heard about it and seen the trailer for it as well. A colleague of mine at work had seen it. and Said that it was okay. But it depends on how you like it. Bepending on the person I mean by that. So it will vary from person to person.

As long as you're not going into the film expecting the Next Great Comic Book Movie, you'll be satisfied. It's no X2 by any means, but then, it's also not Daredevil* It's rather comfortably placed inbetween the two. While it is not a comedy, it is definately a lot lighter than a lot of other comic-based movies out there.
I do have to say I'm kinda dissapointed with how they did Dr Doom....they could have done a MUCH better job with his part of the story.

SPOILERS BELOW:
If you don't like the movie, you've probably never read Fantastic Four comics for a decent length of time to get into the characters.
First, the FF has always been a bit of a comedy.
Johnny is always playing tricks and making cracks at Ben. They just played on the comedy a bit more in the movie, and it was hysterical.
When he first became The Thing, Ben was always very depressed and felt sorry for himself, which they portrayed in the movie. Dr. Doom even played Ben's feelings against him in the same way he did in the movie: By offering a cure to his tranformation.
Ben also has a blind girlfriend, Alicia Masters, just like in the movie.
Reed was always an egghead, and there were times Sue would get mad at him for paying more attention to his science than to her.
The Dr. Doom origin was completely changed, but I thought it made a lot of sense and I have no problem with it.
The actor who played Dr. Doom got the character's personality just right. I think he did a great job, as did the other actors.
Gotta love Stan Lee as the FF's long time postman, Willie Lumpkin!
By the end of the movie everything was fitting into the FF mythos more than not, and they set it up nicely for a sequel.
In all, a great flick. Almost as good as Spider Man (it's tough to top Rami) and definitely better than Batman Begins. |

I'm going to see it today, but no matter what there is NO WAY this will be better than Batman Begins. Period. Not for me, at least.
Ever since they turned Marvel's greatest villain, Dr. Doom, into a businessman with a grudge, I knew it couldn't be the FF film I've always dreamed of.
I like the casting and most of the VFX look good. I wish they would have touched up the Thing's rubber suit with some CG so you wouldn't see the foam bending and it would look more rocky. Plus, his pinky fingers don't really move and he needs his craggy eyebrows like the classic "Everlovin' blue-eyed Thing" we fans know and love.
I'm sure it will be fun, but not the film it could have been. It really needed a more seasoned director than Tim (Barbershop and Taxi) Story - someone like a Bryan Singer, Tony Scott, or anyone who's ever done a bigger budget film.
But, I'll be seeing it today for free, so that's cool!

Spoiler....
Doom got kinda 'Lex Luthor-ed' in the movie..whic h I thought was wrong...HE'S THE LEADER OF A COUNTRY, DAMMIT!
Altho, when/if there's a sequel this might get taken care of, since at the end of the movie it shows him being shipped to Latveria.

Well, it was the Fun Four, but not the FANTASTIC FOUR.
I really enjoyed the Thing and Human Torch (they really got their characters), but Sue and Reed just bored me and Dr. Doom was just Dr. Businessman with Ego and Need to Rule World Guy.
The VFX were really hit and miss - when they worked, they were great (mostly all Human Torch and Invisible Woman) but when they didn't (practically EVERYTHING with Reed) BOY they sure didn't!
I really wanted to see more out of them for their public debut than each one of them doing one thing.
I guess I was totally spoiled by the greatness of The Incredibles - which TOTALLY lived up to and surpassed its name!
If you haven't seen The Incredibles and aren't a die-hard FF fan, you'll really love this movie.
If you have and do know the FF, you may like it a lot or you'll absolutely hate it.
I liked it, but I know the Fantastic Four, and Tim Story, you sir did not direct THE FANTASTIC FOUR!
