This is so cool!
No more waiting for Windows XP to boot up
Imagine how fast your system would be with your OS and your page file on the iRam! Your virtual memory really isn't virtual anymore so no more page file access slowdowns.
This is going to be a boon to gamers.
I'm really looking forward to the release so I can check out the specs and see if it's compatible with my PC.

That would be cool!
If I read the article correctly, you could also install games on it and have them run faster (no loading times)...that would be SWEET.

Yeah, and what's more, I think this would provide a decent overall speed boost that would help to extend the useful life of older PC's.
Man, I hope this thing comes in a PCI slot version, and not just a PCI-Express model.

I just quickly skimmed through it quickly here. It is for the PCI slot.It doesn't mention PCI express. Reminds me of what yo can do already with Windows since the good old dos days when you just put a couple of plines of code to make a ram disk on your computer when you boot up. Its very simialar idea to what they are doing with that. Granted this is dedicate with a small battery to keep things stored in memory without loosing it. And no memory on it.

To compute or not to compute that is the question at hand. Tis nobler to compile in C++ or in TASM.

Wow - that's very cool!
I can't wait until they take this technology a few steps further... and eliminate the need for any HD at all!
Can you imagine EVERYTHING being accessed from a stationary, non-moving, highly efficient data storage media like that?
How sweet would that be!

It'll happen, and sooner than you think.
I'd guess within 20 to 30 years at the outside HDD's will go the way of the 8-track.

Yes, but I found something on Firingsquad that said it hooks up to an SATA controller to look like an SATA drive. The PCI connection is strictly for power. So unless you have a new computer or an SATA card, you're out of luck.

It differs from a RAM disk in that no OS is being loaded into RAM at startup; it's already there. That's where the speed increase comes from. "We are, after all, not God." - Cmdr. J. J. Is this just for Desktops or does it also work for Laptops? Just curious. That sounds awsome.

It's a PCI card meant for desktops.

Donèt feel so discouraged there. They might make one for notebooks as well. Just a matter of time for them to make it happen, Its just a matter of time to do so. Itèll probably be placed into the PCMCIA slots there.
