I officially got it confirmed that, starting on June 13, I'll be the State Communications Director for the American Heart Association!
And I get a $10,000 raise from what I'm currently making, so with the kid on the way I'm THRILLED!!!!
My last day at my current job is May 31st, and from there I'm off to JawsFest in Martha's Vineyard for the 30th anniversary party of my favorite movie of all time - JAWS!!!! I'm so psyched as I'll be meeting Joe Alves (production designer), Carl Gottleib (producer and author of The Jaws Log) and many other heroes from that film! Here's hoping Roy Scheider shows up somewhere so I can meet my first movie hero, Chief Martin Brody, in the flesh!
With my new job, I'm still in Charleston and not even a 5-minute drive from my house! I work the same hours as my wife and will get to do some travelling. I'll be in Columbus a lot and might even be in Dallas sometime this summer. If any of you live near either of these two places, let me know! We'll have to hook up!

Congratulations on the new job! and especially about the news of having a kid. I am only 22 and I am a system admin making about £23'000k a year. Looking to moving out and hopefully have kids with my girl friend. i'm slowly working ['scuse the pun] my way into the world of work. I have just today [20th may] finished my very last day of school ever. And to those of you starting out into the "real world", don't get discouraged. It takes time to find a job.
Also, don't be set on a certain "idea" you have of what work should be like. You'll find yourself being let down more often than not.
If you don't find something in your field automatically, don't give up - but don't NOT WORK until you find it, either!
I was in my current job for six years, so I like to think I've paid my dues.
After the year I just had (losing Jordan Taylor and Tara losing her job), we seem to be coming around again. Tara is now employed with our Secretary of State's office, we have a baby on the way (and all signs point to "rockin' on" in that department) and I have this job with a huge salary increase!
The most important life lesson I've learned is simply this - just hang in there.
It's all any of us can do!

Laphtiya, I hope you both can be happy and have beautiful, healthy children. It sounds like you're doing pretty well for yourself, and I hope that fortune continues with you in all of your endeavors!
In the end, I don't care how much money you make - if you don't enjoy what you're doing, it won't matter. Seriously.
