Having missed the 70mm TRON screening in York last year at the last minute, I thought I'd check if there are any plans to show it again. Just got this reply from Darren Briggs (darren.b _AT_ picturehouses DOT co DOT uk), the Technical Manager of City Screen Cinemas LTD. If anybody would like to catch it this year, maybe send him a friendly email to let him know there's interest:
"Hi
Thanks for the enquiry about Tron.
We managed to get the print from Disney under the understanding that they would not let it be screened again. This is typical Disney for you but i am going to try book it again and tie it in with some other sci-fi 70mm.
But we need to make the screening pay if we were to book it again.
Hopefully we will be screening TRON along with 2001 and 2010 if i can arrange it later this year. Probably November time again.
Other titles we are thinking about over the next few months are...
'APOCALYPSE NOW' Late March
'The Mission'
'Hamlet'
'Alien trilogy'
'King and I'
Non apart from Apocalypse Now are confirmed and are only ideas.
Apocalypse Now looks and sounds great, currently inspecting and running the film here at York prior to screening it at Liverpool and York.
Many THanks

That's cool. I hope they get it for you guys. Too bad you missed the screening.
I'll say this, come hell or high water if there is a screening close to me I will get there.
I nearly flew to Oregon for the one they had recently. Slightly out of my range unfortunately. I've hit every one in LA I have heard about though.

Yeah, I hope you make it. I'm still dissapointed I missed the houston (or was it Austin) show, simply because I didn't hear about it in time.
But that sounds pretty cool there, gl.
