I'm sorry they didn't work out well for you, yojimbo
Perhaps you just needed slightly better equipment? The strobe-like effect the goggles produce may not have agreed with your eyes too. I work with a guy who complains about his monitor's refresh rate and that his monitor always seems flickering (as does everyone's monitor to him) - even the refresh rate is up to 85 Hertz. He's just really fine tuned in to that kind of thing.

So they're working for you?
Err... were working for you?
Let me rephrase - the technology did in fact allow you to see 3D (real depth) while it was functioning? That's really cool.
I hope you're able to get them working again. Maybe you've got a software conflict or something. Sometimes Norton or Macafee virus protection software kind of resets your settings to a "safe" setting that they remember and that might have caused a problem. Then again, there are literally about a thousand things that could cause the problem. Dumb question - are the goggle batteries working? You may have gotten old batteries packaged with them. Just guessing.
Anyway, I hope you get it working again.
I really want to get the goggles for my computer, but I doubt my machine would be able to handle the task. My computer is 4 years old and is not quite top-of-the-line or high-speed by today's standards. I'm holding off on a new system before I invest in the goggles
I've been reading up on the other goggles they make - that are supposed to turn a regular 2D TV signal in to a 3D experience via frame analysis and complicated calculations to produce left-eye and right-eye views. I've read a lot of good reviews about this TV based device (from various sites) and most people who have tried them seem to like them. They say the larger the viewing screen, the better they work.
But I'm still skeptical as to their performance (the TV based ones). I wish I could see them in action somewhere BEFORE I bought them. It would be really cool if they did work. I could watch
in REAL 3D
And I could play Metroid Echoes in 3D... again - IF it actually worked.
I can understand how it might be able to analyze the frames and simulate 3D when there is defined motion taking place, but what about when there is little motion to a scene? I think the technology would fail to produce an accurate 3D image when there is little motion in a scene. That would be a big turn off to me.
Man, I REALLY want 3D SOMETHING! Ok, I know - life is in 3D, but you know what I mean
