think about it:
a "child program" is called a sub-program
we find that out on the packet transport level in tron 2.0, remember that p.a. talking about subnet masks
"if you are accompanying any other sub-programs, please install your own subnet mask before assisting them"
and sub-program gives the isea that is is the offspring of another [two?] programs, sub as in similar, but not as important. [like footba...soccer]
so it would be a sub-user

I think the concept of a kid would be more akin to a beta version of a beta program still full of glitches so it constantly does unexpected things.
"Oooh, Sark, we're gonna play a game? I love games. What would you like to play? Let's play hide 'N Seek in the fractal forest! No no, better yet, let's play red light green light. Guess what part you get to be?"

Meh, kids might be a problem after the get over the shock of being broken down into individual molecules and then reassembled as a glowing program in a world which, despite the fact it defies physics, adheres to unbreakable rules of logic...
and I personally still believe it's not possible for two programs to 'have a child', but thatanother conversation for another thread isn't it?
