I tired from work today and it didn't work there - I figured it was the firewall there. But I can't download it at home either.

Something is futzed. It acted like it uploaded properly this morning. There server is saying it isn't there. I'll get it fixed asap.

Anyone notice that there was extra dialog in the German and Italian versions? It was just background stuff, but still...

Ah, yes... interesting.
Hmm... I'm guessing that maybe in the German and Italian versions, the MCP and Sark were played by different (voice) actors, as opposed to in the English version of Tron? (where David Warner played both the MCP and Sark.)

My guess is you are right. Wait until you hear BIT in differnet languages. That's coming up in a Clu/Bit clip I am assembling.

Danke, Master Control Program. I like how they handle the phrase Strategic Air Command in both clips.
I have to find this in other languages. I know it exists in Spanish for sure, not sure beyond that.

Anyone know where I can get my hands on a PAL laserdisc player? I discovered I have TRON in French on Laserdisc, but my current player will only run the Japanese and US laserdiscs.

It's only subtitled. They added a Japanese title screen and subtitles and left the rest in english.

I was quite surprised, too. I brought the 20th anniversary DVD a year ago, and first thing I watched Tron in its original dub (having seen it only in Italian before): the italian Bit is much more "humanized", and sounds like a child, with almost no cybernetic echo. Moreover, all of its "yes" and "no" have different emphasis.
A a rule I don't like dubbers taking liberties on the original source, but I have to admit I like the italian Bit better. When Flynn mutters "another mouth to feed" it has an impish way to answer "yes yes" that is just _too_ cute
I guess I'll use this post (which is my first one, BTW. Hello everybody!  ) to report that there is an unusual number of other "liberties" in the italian dub I rather dislike. The first one on the top of my mind is when Alan is heading to Dillinger from his cubicle, and a colleague asks if he can help himself with his popcorns.. in italian he asks if he can use his terminal  I guess the dubbers found the exchange not "technical" enough....

I'll try to do a capture tonight. They basically overlaid a Japanese TRON (Which looks like HOY) over the entry into the digital world sequence right after TRON spinds off the screen. I'll post it later tonight.

I thought that the german was good. Since I do understand the dialect but din't speak it at home over here. I guess I'm just shy speaking it. Thought how they handle the MCP name there in german was good.
