This morning I was looking for a strange video that I had told a friend about. I found the link and e-mailed it to him.

Before I left the site, I noticed a link to "lost and found" video clips. In the list was "Bilbo Baggins" and so I thought I'd check it out. When I clicked on the link, a small photo of... LEONARD NEMOY was next to the short description of the video. What the... What is this I have stumbled across?

I already knew that Leonard Nemoy released a few albums back in the late 60's, though I've never heard any of songs.

BUT, I had no idea he actually starred in his own music video!

Yes, I came across this 1968 way pre-MTV music video that features Leonard Nemoy singing a ballad about your favorite Hobbit and mine too - Bilbo Baggins! The song is titled "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins".

The whole video is kind of odd, and VERY 1960's looking. Mr. Nemoy looks kind of Spok-ish in appearance, with the exception of his ears. In fact, he's the ONLY one in the video who does NOT have pointed ears! Check it out - I think you'll enjoy the choreography of the dancers too - it's very... dinosaur like, or something. At the end of the video, he flashes his "Spok" face... well, just watch and see for yourself!

The video and audio quality are not great, but the image is good enough to get it though you may need to increase the volume a little to hear it. It looks like someone actually took video of a TV screen (as in pointing a video camera at the TV screen and recording the TV screen).

Yeah - this one is VERY strange.

I have a great appreciation for the strange, odd, and unusual. I think it's safe to say this has MANY levels of strange, odd, and unusual

I started off finding a "Bilbo Baggins" video link.

It turned out to me Leonard Nemoy... SINGING... and appearing in a music video ABOUT Bilbo Baggins. Ok, that alone has THREE levels of strange, odd, and unusual:

1) Leonard Nemoy singing
2) Leonard Nemoy singing ABOUT Bilbo Baggins
3) Leonard Nemoy singing ABOUT Bilbo Baggins IN a music video

Add on top of that, it's VERY 60's looking:

4) Leonard Nemoy singing ABOUT Bilbo Baggins IN a VERY 60's-looking music video
5) Everyone has pointed ears EXCEPT for Leonard Nemoy!
6) The dancing ladies... um... the choreography - it's both 60's and just plain STRANGE!
7) This is not a comedy - it was done serious - THAT is a WHOLE nother level of strange, odd, and unusual in itself.

I could go on, but you all get the point.

The REALLY scary thing is... I'm REALLY digging it now!

I've acquired an appreciation for this and actually enjoy it well beyond any initial comedic value it first had.

Oh man - I'm just not normal.

Oh well. I'd just LOVE to sneak this song in to a future project somehow... so few people will ever pick up on it!

Oh - one more funny thing. Since seeing and hearing this the other day, I've had the urge to watch the animated cartoon (from the 70's I think) "The Hobbit". I haven't seen that in almost 20 years!
