I'm afraid they have that a bit wrong. the Scouring of the shire wasn't even filmed.

I'm definitly excited about this, gatta pick it up. I wouldnt be suprised if they release a se trilogy then 3-4 months later put out the UBER se trilogy lol.

Jackson has stated that he won't be doing a major Extended Edition trilogy until another 3 years or so, for the HD-DVD format.
He's too busy filming King Kong now, anyways.
Now, I would suspect that they might box the three Extended Edition sets together, like they did for the two-disc sets.
But, I'll definitely have the gift set for ROTK. The statue piece from Minas Tirith is beautiful! I have the bookends from FOTR, but didn't care for the Gollum statue with TTT.
Return of the King was such a great film, and I can't wait to have a weekend marathon of the 12-hour Extended Trilogy!

Ahhhh... This is cause for much rejoice! It seems so much longer between the dvd release to SE release for RotK than the other two...

Yeah, he's filming it and it stars Adrian Brody, Jack Black and Naomi Watts in the role that made Fay Raye immortal!
Plus, none other than Gollum himself, Andy Serkis, will be doing the motion capturing for Kong.
This film should be frickin' sweet! Jack Black won't be his normal goofy self (although I love that goofiness - The D for life!), as he'll be more of a straight man in the film.

Ah, yes... my plan exactly!
Hmm... if I manage to be ready by 12:00, I can eat lunch while I watch FotR, then dinner sometime around the end of TTT...
I'm really getting excited about the Extended edition of RotK. can't wait.

December 14 is the official release date for the Extended Edition DVD and Gift Sets.
I can't wait for that weekend, when I have my LOTR: EE marathon!
Thank GOD for high-def widescreen TVs, Progressive Scan DVD players and DTS surround sound!
