Then again, I also thought the 80's Flash Gordon movie was(and still is) awesome, so what do I know?

I wasn't too sure what to say about it. On one hand it did look cool on the other hand, couldn't they just have called it Sky Captain? Or would that make is sound like a Miazaki film (Not that that's a bad thing)

I am both intrigued and repulsed by this film. It looks neat but some of the acting is BAAAD! Angelina seems like she's in her element, but Jude Law and Gwynneth Paltrow feel out of place to me.
I am not sure I am going to see it in theatres, might wait for DVD. I'll wait and see what you guys say.

Yeah, the scenery reminds me of alot of the Fleischer-esqe serials of the 40s and 50s with the huge square robot men and "death rays" but the acting reminds me of a troupe of actors from the radio days. Not really accustomed to the screen but ready to use overly dramatic voices in any situation. I might have to check it out though. I am really scared of what Sir Lawrence's appearance post mortem could mean to movies. As for Team America, I am rather indifferent on that one. Looks a little to silly to me but I might check it out, just becuase the nostalgia value of supermarionation is kinda calling to me.

The look and style of Sky Captain And The World Of Tommorrow is what has me hooked. I love the fact the style is based on the Fleischer serials. They did awsome work back in the 1940's with Superman. I have the Superman serials on dvd and the animation is just awsome. The animation holds up great even today. "The Mechanical Monsters" and "The Magnetic Telescope" are my two favorites of all the episodes.

I agree to the nth degree!!! The "retro goodness" has got me hooked and I can't wait to see it. When the preview first began, I thought it might be a remake of Metropolis. It turns out the actors are live action and all the other elements are cg, still impressive. The trailer is pretty cool, its like western anime I'm thinking my monitor could use something new, so I'm on the lookout for a pewters of the film (the planes/ships or robots). Cant wait to see it...
