How many people here had the fortune of seeing our favorite movie in the theaters in 82? How old were you, and what were your memories?
I was 15, and I remember laughing at all the losers waiting in line for E.T. while I walked right in to TRON (wait a minute, thats not such a good thing, is it?) Anyway, I bought the soundtrack and story of TRON the next day. I saw it 2 more days after that and I still can't get enough!

I saw it at least 4 times when it first came out.
IN the last year I have seen it 7 times on big screens in 35mm and 70mm prints.

I originally saw TRON in the theater in 1982 - I was 11. My grandparents took my brother and I. Grandpa was so bored he fell asleep. As for me - I was so excited and blown away by this spectacular film, I didn't want the movie to end. At the time, I really didn't understand how TRON did not turn out to be the most popular movie of all time. It seemed to kind of flop at the box office - perhaps people just didn't get it.
Today, the film STILL blows me away - EVERY time I watch it! Perhaps because I always kind of see it through the eyes of an 11-year-old me, or perhaps just because the film is just AWESOME, period.
- an awesome film and GREAT adventure, far ahead of its time. To this day, I WISH I could be digitized in to the computer and take on the MCP!

I understand your position, but you are reading me all wrong.
I know how rare it is, and I made the most of it when they did the 10 day run in LA at the El Capitan. The Nuart theatre showed a midnight screening of a bad 35mm print, so I went. I also got to see it at two DGA events, so I have been really lucky.
I also have the distinct advantage of working for Disney and being friends with Steven Lisberger, so some opportunities are more readily available to me.
I always try to keep you people informed of events so you can participate too. I try to share the wealth where I can, so don't be getting down on me for my experieinces.where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill online

Hmmm how about wyoming... less goin on here then either coast
I've never gotten a chance to see tron on a big screen. I was too young for the initial release, and it probably will never be in town again, maybe denver will have it at some point again and I can drive down to see it *crosses fingers*.

Well even my living in Hermosa didn't enable me to see Tron the last time it showed in the theaters recently. So don't get too sad Kmon. Sometimes things just work out that way. I had to attend my brothers graduation in Maryland at the time so there was like no way I could go. Basically I have to keep the memories of when I went as a kid alive. I don't think anyone's acted like it's available everywhere. I'm on the West Coast and I know it's NOT available everywhere because not even I have seen it in the theaters for about 22 years (1982) when it first came out. Yet I'm west coast.
Yeah, I saw it when it first came out... I guess I was about 9 at the time. I haven't seen it in any theathers since then, though I know it's been in California a few times. Hollywood and Disney are in California so of course there are likely going to be more opportunities to see films like Tron there. If I wanted to make it in theater (not saying I do), would I not need to move to New York or California? It'd sure probably help my chances.
All's I remember from seeing it in the theater is the red glowing helicopter that Dillinger flew in on. Not sure why I don't remember more; I hate to say it, but I think I may have fallen asleep!! DOH! I think my love for Tron happened when I saw it on video at school and elsewhere several times after it was released on video in the early 80s.
I can't get enough of Tron either. Unfortunately, my DVD player is broken and I'm having withdrawls. Fortunately, I have my VHS to tide me over, but I do miss the 20th Anniversary DVD.where to buy abortion pill ordering abortion pills to be shipped to house buy abortion pill onlineabortion pills online http://www.kvicksundscupen.se/template/default.aspx?abortion-questions cytotec abortion

Sorry to say i missed out on seeing it in theaters. I was only 7 that summer, but I remember seeing previews for it during another movie. I almost had my chance while my brother and I stayed with my grandparents for a week. My cousins came over and we got to vote on a movie to see. I was the only one that voted for TRON, so needless to say we didn't go. I remember the voting turned into such a fiasco that grandma just took us to Chuck E. Cheese instead.
I ended up seeing it for the first time about 2 years later. My friend had one of those dads who had all the latest VHS/BETA stuff and he nabbed a copy of TRON. After that, I only saw it when it was on cable because my household didn't get a VCR until about '87. Today, I'm catchin it about once every month or two on DVD.
I'd love to catch it on the big screen, but I'll have to wait for an opportunity to present itself.

Sorry. I was born three years too late. Never saw or heard anything about it until I was 12yrs and that was over a game of laser tag. (I shot anything that moved. But that's another story all together....)

My suggestion to those of you who want to see it on the big screen is to find your local art house theatres that show classics on the big screen and try to get them to have screenings. The Nuart here in LA has done it, and I know that the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin did recently. I have seen reports from London and New York too. It can be done, but you have to take some action.
At the very least, keep on top of what is in local thatres and go when they show it so they know you want more!

DaveTRON,
Who would someone (like me) have to contact in order to get a screening set up?
Are there certain channels through Disney or Buena Vista that one would have to go to?
Thanks for your help!

You could try the Special Events group, or even Feature Film, but I don't really know exactly who to call for that. I am fairly certain Special Events is the best place. They set up the El Capitan screening.

Any direct address or e-mail?
Feel free to IM me if that's something you don't want advertised all over!
I'm trying to start a film society group here in Charleston, WV, and Tron is definitely one film I'd love to be able to screen!
A sincere thanks, DaveTRON! I hardly know ye, but ye is most cool to me and it's appreciated!

I really don't know a direct number.
You have two options, A:
Call the main number for the studio in Burbank and ask for the Special Events group.
or B:
Write to this address:
The Walt Disney Company
c/o Special Events Group
500 South Buena Vista Street
Burbank, CA 91521
